Job description

The Corporate Strategy Group supports all JPMC lines of business and functional groups on a project basis, addressing topics at the top of senior management agendas. Projects include developing growth strategies, assessing and planning market entry, and managing cross-line of business and corporate function initiatives. Projects are typically team-based and include heavy interaction and collaboration with senior executives across the Firm. Our focused group of about 20 professionals comes directly from top strategy consulting firms, investment banks, other internal JPMorgan Chase groups and leading undergraduate and graduate programs.

We are seeking a Vice President to help lead project teams in solving complex problems and implementation issues critical to the company. The position represents an excellent opportunity for candidates to:

  • Apprentice under and impact the agendas of senior management
  • Drive execution of the Firm's highest priorities and top strategic initiatives
  • Develop expertise in a variety of functions and businesses
  • Hone problem solving, modeling, communications and leadership skills in an environment of active mentorship and coaching
  • Advance to other roles in the company

Specific capabilities required for the position include:
  • Strong interpersonal and influencing skills - and ability to interact with colleagues at all levels in a peer-like way, and achieve goals without direct control over resources
  • Strong end-to-end generalist problem solving skills, e.g.,
    • Defining and deconstructing problems
    • Prioritizing issues, analysis, and team capacity
    • Structuring and building quantitative and qualitative/conceptual analyses
    • Applying strong business judgment to surface implications and practical, high impact options
    • Analyzing operational and financial data
    • Performing competitor/industry research leveraging both public and non-public sources
    • Participating in and independently conducting internal and external interviews
    • Working collaboratively with team members across LOBs and staff areas
    • Identifying implications and "so whats" of data and analysis with the team
    • Contributing to concise communication materials for senior management


Qualifications:
  • 7+ years of experience from either a premier management consulting firm, OR from an investment banking (M&A, Coverage, Capital Markets, Equity Research) division. Experience with Banking clients or Financial Institutions Group (FIG) experience REQUIRED
  • Diverse problem solving experience, such as experience with a top management consulting firm or in other generalist problem solving environments across financial services sectors
  • An outstanding ability to analyze problems, apply quantitative analytical approaches, communicate effectively and confidently (both oral and written), work well in cross-functional teams
  • History of managing varied team of professionals in project based environments with proven ability to coach and develop the team
  • Openness to an environment of active developmental feedback from peers
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills
  • Excellent and efficient skills using MS Excel and PowerPoint tools (absolutely required)
  • MBA preferred
