Job description

Syncarpha is a privately held company that is dedicated to developing, owning, and operating distributed solar plus storage and community solar photovoltaic ("PV") systems. Syncarpha uses an end-to-end approach to develop, own, and operate low-cost and high-performance PV solar plants, leveraging best-of-breed technology and expertise in both the finance and renewable energy fields.


They are looking for an exceptional and entrepreneurial individual that will be responsible for identifying, evaluating, conducting diligence, and closing solar project or portfolio acquisitions across their key markets. The position will have a heavy emphasis on preparing and negotiating letters of intent, conducting comprehensive due diligence, and negotiating preliminary and definitive agreements with sellers.


They offer a flexible working schedule, and the incumbent of this role will ideally work out of their New York office 2-3 times per week (Tuesday-Thursday) and the remaining days remote.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead the origination of project opportunities for acquisition, co-development, or joint development partnerships.
  • Negotiate purchase acquisition documents, including but not limited to letters of intent, membership interest purchase agreements, project sale agreements, etc.
  • Manage the due diligence process and identify key project development risks, including site control, interconnection, power marketing, and permitting matters.
  • Identify new project opportunities via various external channels.
  • Communicate any commercial risks to senior management, as appropriate.
  • Identify key project milestones, risks, and upside scenarios in support of investment decision-making.
  • Cultivate a robust network of developers, brokers, investment bankers, and consultants to use in originating and assessing new investment opportunities.
  • Assess, articulate, and manage the key risks of those opportunities, and develop the Investment Committee documents needed to secure management approval for a new deal.
  • Coordinating the completion of acquired projects working with internal teams, including development, project finance, engineering and construction, and legal.


EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum of 7 to 10 years of related experience in energy development or finance.
  • Experience originating, sourcing, evaluating, negotiating, and executing on renewable energy projects.
  • Must have an undergraduate degree, MBA, or Law degree a plus.
  • Experience negotiating MIPA's, PPA's, and EPC Agreements.
  • Prior experience in renewable project M&A, preferable with DG and community solar projects.
  • Experience analyzing project economics, with project finance modeling experience a plus.
  • Knowledge of solar economic market trends, local market policies, general industry costs, and key industry players.
  • The ideal candidate will have both sell-side and buy-side experience.
  • Excellent organizational and program management skills.
  • Strong communications skills, with the ability to present complex deal structures succinctly and drive management decisions.
  • Strong attention to detail and inclination towards structure, organization, and process.
  • Ability to examine, question, and improve on the inputs and recommendations of others.
  • Ability to manage and coordinate multiple projects with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Job duties will involve occasional travel.
