Job Summary:

The Insurance Claims Specialist/Litigation Paralegal will work with the Director, Claims within the Risk Management Department in connection with the handling of claims and litigation and interface with the Tishman Personnel and Outside counsel.

The position calls for communication with Tishman personnel (both in the field and in the office), Outside Counsel, Insurance brokers, claims professionals and others on a daily basis. Candidates should have good communication skills and should be able to work well with diverse personality types. Candidates should be organized and should be able to handle a diverse workload and have multi-tasking skills.

Key responsibilities are likely to include:

  • Receipt and review of all incident reports from project sites for reporting of the incidents to appropriate insurance programs and insurance brokers for Worker's Compensation (WC) and General Liability (GL) coverage
  • Provide initial First Notice of Loss triage assistance and reporting with appropriate follow up as necessary
  • Provide assistance to WC and GL insurance claims professionals for information and documentation necessary for claims handling
  • Process all Tishman Worker's Compensation Board forms (C2F, C240, C11) and follow up for all appropriate information
  • Receipt, review and filing of insurance acknowledgements and other documents received (insurance, litigation, etc.)
  • Liaise with Project Personnel, Insurance Professionals, Insurance Brokers and Outside Counsel on a variety of issues
  • Obtain various construction documents from field personnel responsive to litigation needs (litigation discovery, subpoena requests, etc.)
  • scheduling deposition appearances and trial appearances of Tishman Personnel for litigated matters
  • Respond to subpoenas
  • Coordinate investigation with Project Personnel and outside vendors and/or Outside Counsel, in anticipation of future litigation
  • Provide assistance on various construction related issues that arise out of project work
  • Attendance and participation in claim reviews
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree four (4) years of experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Paralegal certificate preferred but not required
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc)
  • Construction litigation experience preferred but not required
