Job description

Responsibilities

Investment Accounting & Operations

  • Responsible for working with the custodian bank on the accounting, tax, regulatory and foreign markets reporting that is associated with the Foundation's investment portfolio.
  • Preparing disbursement projections for the Foundation's investment portfolio.
  • Overseeing the treasury function with custodian including capital calls, funding and redemptions, bank reconciliations, and investment cash forecasting.
  • Working with the Foundation's Finance team on all investment accounting and operational needs.

Audit and Tax

  • In conjunction with the Foundation's Finance team, oversee the annual audits of the Foundation's investment portfolio, including valuation, application of accounting standards and pronouncements, controls standards, disclosure and coordination with outside auditors, Controller, and CFO.
  • Preparing the annual status report of portfolio.
  • Working with Finance and custodian to develop, maintain, and update accounting policies, procedures, and proper internal controls systems specific to portfolio activities. Establishing and maintaining systems and controls to assure the integrity of all financial systems, processes, and data.

Portfolio Management

  • Managing financial performance, impact reporting and portfolio and pipeline activities by using and maintaining the Foundation's portfolio management software (e.g., iLevel, Ipreo, Salesforce).
  • Tracking investees' performance against financial and impact targets.
  • Preparing regular investment portfolio reports and analyses of the Foundation's portfolio for internal and external consumption.
  • Implementing an impact framework into the Foundation's investment approach and promoting best practices, in partnership with the Foundation's investment Measurement, Evaluation and Strategy team.
  • Serving as a liaison to the Foundation's counterparties and liaising and collaborating with the Innovative Finance and Program teams, as applicable, regarding the Foundation's holdings.
  • Managing, with guidance from investment staff and the Foundation's Legal team, investment amendments, restructurings, exits and liquidations, etc. Identifying and troubleshooting underperforming transactions.

Regulatory/Other

  • Performing due diligence on new investments for tax and regulatory purposes.
  • Funding, reporting on and providing operational support for the Foundation's investments overseas.
  • Supporting the Foundation's Finance team in various other capacities, including as back-up for accounts payable check/ACH/wire payments and overseeing departmental cross-training and disaster-recovery planning, bank reconciliations, and other ad hoc/special projects.
  • Partners with the Foundation's Finance and Legal teams with respect to the establishment of newly created entities with a focus on investment accounting responsibilities.

Qualifications

  • CPA
  • 5+ years Investment Operations and/or Accounting experience within an asset manager, hedge fund or private equity firm
  • Knowledge of GAAP reporting, capital calls, distributions, valuations, audit, and reconciliations
  • Comfortable with Excel
  • Bachelors in Accounting preferred

This Investment Operations and Accounting Manager role is initially fully remote but will eventually require 3 days per week in the midtown Manhattan New York, so please only apply if you are able to travel to this location, have relevant experience for the role and are eligible to work in the United States.
