AB's Multi-Asset Solutions (MAS) business has been a significant component of the firm's growth over the last decade. The group integrates fundamental and systematic approaches to investing and has been the primary driver of AB's shift toward more systematic strategies. Strategic asset allocation focusing on horizons beyond three years plays a central role in our construction of funds and custom solutions for clients.
We are seeking an experienced researcher to conduct impactful SAA research. You will perform research along the full SAA value chain extending from strategy development to implementation vehicle selection. You will possess strong research coding ability, sharp quantitative skills and solid fundamental market knowledge. Your research will be employed by portfolio managers in funds and solutions across the multi-asset group, other groups within AB and external partners. This role will be part of the MAS Global Research team.
Responsibilities:
* Perform research to assess SAA investment opportunities and risks including strategy development and evaluation, forecasting, portfolio construction and manager selection
* Conduct systematic and fundamental research integrating insights from both approaches
* Systematize and automate research processes where appropriate
* Partner with researchers, analysts and PMs to improve investment outcomes
* Contribute to MAS SAA thought leadership including internal and external publications and presentations
* Collaborate with business development on client requests and market opportunities
* Collaborate with technology to implement solutions
Qualifications:
* 3+ years in an investment research role at a long/short asset manager with meaningful multi-asset class experience
* Strong quantitative, analytical and communication skills
* Mature fundamental understanding of markets
* Experience with some subset of investment strategy development, forecasting, portfolio construction and manager evaluation
* Familiarity with alternative and private investment strategies a plus
* High level proficiency in Python and SQL with experience in Matlab preferred
* Deep knowledge of statistics, preferably including Monte Carlo simulation
* Masters/PhD degree in a technical discipline including quantitative finance/economics, math, statistics, computer science or physics
