Our National Head Quarters, Fundraising Team is seeking a Senior Disaster Fundraising Officer.

Job Summary:

Summary:

The American Red Cross is seeking an experienced fundraiser who can meet sudden and varying business needs in response to domestic disasters and can perform under pressure in a rapidly changing environment. The Red Cross is a world-renowned organization that prevents and alleviates human suffering in the face of emergencies by mobilizing the power of volunteers and the generosity of donors. As part of the Disaster Fundraising team, the senior officer will be responsible for implementing, coordinating and supporting strategy and technical guidance on solicitation strategies in response to domestic disasters across all giving channels. On average, the team launches 25 campaigns in response to large-scale disasters and works annually to train and help Red Cross fundraisers develop plans to rapidly increase their fundraising in response to disasters.

Responsibilities:

* Develop and manage solicitation strategies and materials for various campaigns in response to domestic disasters.
* Act as secondary, and as needed, primary fundraising liaison to the Disaster Cycle Services department to update them on fundraising goals and strategies as well as to answer any technical questions that arise during and after campaigns.
* Coordinate with field fundraisers, particularly the impacted areas, on fundraising strategies and needs.
* Coordinate with Development, Communications, Finance, Marketing and other departments to ensure staff is briefed and engaged on the Red Cross response to a disaster, including campaign strategies, and assist in approval of fundraising messaging for all giving channels.
* Lead and support Development segment leads in strategies and tactics (e.g., Board) to support field in disaster fundraising efforts.
* Ensure Red Cross solicitation guidance and fundraising best practices are used throughout the campaign.
* Develop briefing materials and reports for leadership on fundraising strategy and activity.
* Facilitate post-disaster debriefs and conduct analysis to help drive process improvement and performance optimization.
* Support the strategy on disaster-specific stewardship materials.
* Conduct disaster fundraising trainings with Red Cross executives, fundraisers and board members from across the country.
* Lead the annual update of the Disaster Fundraising Action Plan (DFRAP) and the annual review of regional DFRAPs.
* Throughout the year, help gather and share information on disaster statistics, program priorities and budget-reducing projects to help ensure a stable annual funding source for the Disaster Cycle Services program.
* Help manage charity watchdog relationships, which includes maintaining accreditation by the BBB Wise Giving Alliance.

For those candidates located in CO or CT, the salary range for this position is: $85,000 -$100,00

Qualifications:

* A Bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience) in Marketing, Sales, Communications, Nonprofit Management, Business or a relevant field.
* A minimum of seven years related fundraising experience with a successful track record soliciting major gifts and managing donor relationships.
* Extensive knowledge of the principles and techniques of fundraising programs within a large organization is essential.
* Must have demonstrated ability and success in grant and proposal writing as well as knowledge of cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies and techniques.
* Excellent written and oral communication skills, including strong interpersonal and negotiation skills are required.
* Project management background preferred.
* Knowledge of trends and best practices in fundraising techniques is essential as well as experience launching fundraising campaigns preferred.
* Good analytical skills and an understanding of financial tracking.
* Strong initiative, attention to detail and a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively.
* Demonstrated tact and diplomacy in difficult or sensitive situations.
* Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite is necessary and proficiency with Salesforce or similar fundraising database is preferred.
* American Red Cross experience is highly desirable.
* Operational flexibility to meet sudden and unpredictable business needs, willingness to work flexible hours, evenings and weekends, and a moderate amount (10%) of business travel is required.
