Job description
This position reports to a Project Management Leader in Otsuka's Marketing Operations organization. Marketing Operations provides operational support and project management for the commercial organization, including Brand Teams and other key Commercial Functions.
The individual selected for this position will be primarily responsible for providing operational support to commercial teams. This position will provide direct support for planning and leading priority projects such as brand planning, governance presentation preparation, field team meeting preparation, as well as day to day brand operations. This individual will have responsibility for leading multiple initiatives simultaneously, commonly including project management, material development, and cross-functional meeting facilitation.
This role includes partnering across major functional areas including: Brand Teams, Sales, Business Analytics/ Market Research, Medical Affairs, Market Access, Sales Training, Finance, Regulatory, Legal, Promotional Compliance, and others. This position also requires coordination with Otsuka's alliance partners when applicable by project.
The Senior Manager, Marketing Operations will play a crucial role in managing in-market brand activities with potential to grow along with the product portfolio and the commercial organization at large.
The right candidate for this position will not only have strong project management skills, but also the ability to think strategically, adding value to commercial teams beyond basic operations. Examples include effective communication, influencing stakeholders across functions, problem solving, anticipating challenges, process improvement, and structuring presentations.
Commercial Project Management
Priority Commercial Initiatives:
Lead priority projects for the commercial organization as determined by stakeholders and operational leadership
Determine appropriate project management methodology and tools
Drive projects across functions
Facilitate decision-making, timely issue resolution
Own project materials and lead structured process
Governance/ Major Meeting Materials:
Partner with Brand Leadership to prepare presentations internally and with cross-functional and alliance partners
Gather/ synthesize relevant content
Provide input into contents and story
Present as appropriate
Brand Planning:
Partner and align with Brand Leadership to create framework and plan
Synthesize ideas and input into strategies and tactics
Drive process to gain alignment, meet milestones and deadlines
Provide support for building, refining, and gaining approval for the brand budget
Lead Cross Functional Commercial Projects
Leverage Project Management Tools and Processes
Lead Cross-Functional Projects:
Drive Key Operational Workstreams Across Functions end to end (e.g. Strategic Planning, Tactical Planning, Brand Budgeting, Governance Presentation Creation)
Coordination/ Alignment with Alliance Counterparts as necessary
Required:
BA/BS degree
Expertise in independently managing large projects with multiple workstreams
Experience partnering directly with brand teams and brand leadership
Results-driven with a high sense of urgency and accountability: ability to meet business objectives, deliverables, and timely completion of initiatives with a cross-functional team
High standards for accuracy and clarity in written and verbal communication
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Strong planning, organizational, and prioritization skills- Ability to effectively organize and prioritize tasks to achieve established deadlines
Knowledge of pharmaceutical industry and major functional areas
Strong managerial, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
Ability to function effectively under conditions of uncertainty and ambiguity, and ability to navigate competing demands
Ability to effectively utilize project management tools and software
Strong PowerPoint and deck creation skills
Minimum 5 years of pharmaceutical industry and/or marketing operations experience
Strong capability as an adaptive learner
Preferred:
Strategic planning experience within sales and marketing
Experience creating senior leadership presentations
Knowledge of working across strategic alliances
Strong Excel, Microsoft Project skills
Experience managing all or significant portions of a pharmaceutical launch a plus
Advanced degree in relevant field
Consulting experience a plus
