Job description

The Tractor Trailer Driver I position involves the Resource driving a tractor-trailer unit to one or more destinations and then returning to the original domicile during the same work shift. A typical work week will be five days per week, and some shifts may begin in the evening and finish the following morning. Some work is performed outdoors.
This position can only be filled with a retired client union non-management employee with a positive rehire status. At this time, the position is only open for retired Package and Feeder Drivers from Local 804 in New Jersey and Local 177 in New York. The Resource cannot be on assignment exceeding 90 days from the assignment Start Date. Under no circumstances can a retired package or feeder driver work for client beyond December 31, 2014.
Must meet all of the applicable requirements as specified by the Department of Transportation (DOT) and be Commercial Driver's License (CDL) qualified as required by job assignment.
Ability to work varying shifts, additional house and/or overtime depending on service needs
Possess a valid driver's license and ability to drive vehicles with a standard transmission safely
Continuously sit for up to 10 hours per day, 5 days per week
Lift, lower, push, pull, leverage and manipulate equipment and/or packages weighing up to 70 pounds; assist in moving packages weighing up to 150 pounds
Lift packages to heights above the shoulder and lower to foot level as appropriate
Grasp, reach, and maintain control of activities associated with assigned task such as coupling, uncoupling, driving and handling packages, including but not limited to the use of computers and handheld radios.
Have a sufficient ability to communicate, through sight, hearing, and/or otherwise, to perform assigned tasks and maintain proper job safety conditions
Maintain an acceptable work pace
Report to work on a timely basis and complete the scheduled workday on a consistent basis
Work in an environment with:
Variable temperatures and humidity (climatic conditions)
Exposure to noise, dust/dirt, fumes
Enclosed work areas
Outside inclement weather
Work cooperatively in a diverse work environment
Demonstrate cognitive ability to:
Follow directions and routines
Work independently with appropriate judgment
Exhibit spatial awareness
Read words and numbers
Concentrate memorize, and recall

Perform other functions that may be assigned
If selected for this assignment, the Resource must pass a DOT physical, drug test and road test in a client vehicle. Contingent workers must have a valid commercial driver's license issued in the state that they live in and a doubles endorsement is desired. Tractor-Trailer Drivers are expected to comply with client appearance guidelines and wear the company-provided uniform.
Age and Experience Requirement
Minimum Age: 21
Commercial Driving Experience: 2 years
Must pass Mandated CDL - 5 Panel Drug Test
Must pass DOT Physical
Driving Record - Last 12 months
No DUI or DWI
No Moving Violations
No Accidents
No Suspensions or Revocations (except Non-Moving violations)
Driving Record - Last 36 months
No DUI or DWI
No more than a combination of three moving violations or chargeable accidents in the past three years This is a referral only position. client will refer candidates through the GCSP process.
