Job description

Staff Accountant

The Staff Accountant is responsible for assisting with the accounting and financial management in the corporate office for the company's North American business units. Key responsibilities include partnering with all levels of management, month-end close and related processes, including monthly reconciliations, budgets, forecasting, and other analysis. Balance sheet and income statement analysis and preparing journal entries for monthly close and as needed.

Your Tasks

  • Analyze financial data and create reports for management, stakeholders, and external parties
  • Maintain accurate and complete financial reports
  • Assist in preparation and coordination of annual financial statement audit
  • Assist with the preparation of the federal, state tax returns and tax provision calculation
  • Assist with the annual budgeting and planning process; administer and review all financial plans and compare to actual results with a view to identify, explain and correct variances as appropriate
  • Evaluate and review accounting procedures, processes and controls to ensure accurate financial reporting
  • Continually work to assess the changes and improvements needed and take action as necessary
  • Participate in project feasibility and analyses
  • Develop an understanding of relevant financial issues
  • Assist with fixed asset accounting
  • Comply with local, state, and other government reporting
  • Ability and desire to translate complex financial concepts to individuals at all levels including finance and non-finance personnel

Your Profile

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or related area
  • At least 3-5 years Public Accounting experience
  • Financial Accounting: at least 3-5 years of experience
  • Manufacturing experience highly desired
  • Cost Accounting experience preferred
  • Strong computer skills, Excel a must (SAP experience highly preferred)
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; experience in effectively communicating key data, including presentation to senior management
  • Knowledge of accounting for income tax (ASC 740) and income tax compliance reporting
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent planning/organizing, scheduling/monitoring skills
  • Proactively builds professional relationship with other departments/personnel
  • Display exemplary ethical behavior when working with confidential financial documents
  • Ability to manage deadlines and work in a high-pressure environment
