Job description

ALC Schools is expanding our brand beyond being the industry leader in alternative student transportation in which we help school districts manage their hard-to-service student transportation needs including McKinney-Vento, foster care, ESE/special needs, out-of-district, and multi-district trips. This position will build the strategy to launch ALC Schools pursuit of providing alternative transportation options to new verticals such as government, private, community, etc.

Business Development Specialist Position Summary:

We are looking for someone that is optimistic and passionate about making a difference in the lives of students. As a member of the Business Development team, you will be at the forefront of building relationships with school districts primarily in the state of New York. The scope of work and travel will be across the entire state of New York, with potential trips to national tradeshows a couple of times per year. The ideal candidate will reside in the greater New York area. You will be required to find new business opportunities, secure meetings, and grow business in your area.
Responsibilities as a Business Development Specialist:

* Develop, execute, and maintain sales of alternative transportation services that will ensure profitable growth and success of ALC Schools
* Build relationships with high level executives and become active within targeted industries to drive sales
* Find leads through cold calls, marketing, tradeshows, and other marketing tools and then develop those leads into customers
* Build a large pipeline of prospects resulting in new partnerships
* Assist in formulating standard/routine proposals in conjunction with team members and various functional groups
* Collaborate with the operations team and customers to evaluate account performance, identify refinements and improvements, while implementing solutions
* Track and report to senior management on a frequent basis the status of all leads, proposals, pipeline performance, and negotiations
* Participate and present at tradeshows, regional meetings, luncheons, and other industry events

Requirements

Requirements as a Business Development Specialist

* 6 years of outside sales experience (preferably selling a service)
* Experience selling in multi-state markets industries, preferred
* Bachelors degree and/or equivalent relevant years of experience
* Experience managing the complete sales cycle and a proven track record of closing and retaining new accounts
* Strong technical skills, including Excel, Word, Outlook
* CRM experience ( is a plus)
* Ability to develop and lead executive presentations
* Effective negotiating skills
* Ability to travel between 35-50% to attend meetings, tradeshows, regional meetings, and other events in their designated regions
