Job Summary

Role Summary:

This position is responsible for all financial reporting/analysis and accounting/controls of the sales and channel marketing functions. He/she will work with these functions' teams to optimize the financial performance of their respective areas. This position plays a key role within the financial leadership team reporting directly to our CFO and dotted-line to our VP-Sales/Vp-Product.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Lead the annual budget and strategic plan processes for sales and channel marketing.
  • Manage the monthly closing process for sales, including actual results and updated forecasts for gross sales, returns, co-op advertising and other customer allowances, and standard margins by sku and by key customers.
  • Provide weekly forecast of sales by month to be submitted to corporate based on updated inputs from sales and supply chain leaders.
  • Evaluate all pricing proposals and/or customer programs to facilitate optimal volumes and profit consistent with plans.
  • Ensure all price files are updated and maintained, and that any discrepancies between customer orders / invoices and price files are researched and resolved timely.
  • Assist with competitive pricing assessments by sku/category by channel, and provide analysis of FCNA profit by customer as well as customer margins.
  • Prepare financial analyses of all key program events (e.g. Black Friday, Prime Day, etc.); and also ensure budgets and forecasts are prepared with anticipation of these events.
  • Update the Nucleus BI system monthly with accurate forecasts for volumes/pricing by customer and sku for at least 12 months forward; and review/communicate gross sales, net sales, and standard margins ensuring accuracy of volumes/pricing and cost information in the system.
  • Liaise with other finance areas and other functions to understand any changes in costs, supply, etc. that may impact profit and/or the ability to deliver projected sales.
  • Prepare monthly variance analysis of actual gross sales, net sales, and standard margin vs. budget, prior forecast, and last year by customer.
  • Analyze variances in standard margins; and provide explanations by volume, mix, and pricing.
  • Partner with the VP-Sales to prepare and run the monthly Billing Meeting to capture the latest updates from various sales and other functional leaders.
  • Track all co-op advertising and customer allowances; and recommend changes when intended sales volumes are not achieved.
  • Evaluate customer returns and other customer activities to ensure appropriate per customer contracts.
  • Engage with other functional areas to enhance the PSI / S&OP processes.
  • Lead and further develop a team of financial professionals; and closely partner with other functional areas.
  • Lead New Product Financials, Cannibalization Assumptions
Minimum Job Requirements

Qualifications/Requirements:
  • BS in accounting or finance. MBA preferred.
  • 10-15 years of relevant work experience.
  • Some experience in sales/marketing finance.
  • Experience with consumer goods desirable.
  • Oracle, Hyperion, Demand Planning systems, and BI system knowledge a plus.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent presentation skills, with ability to see the big picture and also strong attention to detail.
  • Team player with positive approach.
  • Must be a flexible, self-starter with the ability to work independently in a dynamic environment.
  • Results-oriented with high sense of urgency to get things done.
  • Leads with integrity; conducts business fairly, honestly, and ethically every day.
