POSITION SUMMARY & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Develops policies to control and coordinate accounting, auditing, budgets, taxes and related activities and records. Develop, administer procedures and systems pertaining to financial matters; prepare financial statements, forecast and analyses all administrative and managerial functions. Maintains all accounting records and is responsible for development, analysis, and interpretation of statistical and accounting information. Evaluates operating results in terms of costs, revenues, budgets, policies of operation, trends, and increased profit possibilities.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Directs financial operations of the club
  • Consistently monitors cash flow
  • Formulates, receives, and recommends policy proposals relating to all accounting and auditing, budget, revenue, and cost control procedures
  • Prepares monthly statement and changes in financial conditions for the club along with required supporting schedules and other date necessary for financial reports and records
  • Works closely with each department and Board Committees in establishing annual as well as requested budgeting forecasts
  • Analyzes budget versus actual expenditures and advises management about variances and their potential causes; recommends corrective actions to help assure that budget goals are met
  • Works with the club's external auditors to assure that procedures are consistent with club policies
  • Verifies that all insurance records for club property are properly maintained
  • Reconciles monthly ledgers including receivables, payables, bank accounts, asset accounts and wage accounts. Informs and advises other department heads about the financial aspects of their responsibilities
  • Prepares and/or supervises preparation of applicable federal, state, and local tax returns
  • Direct the preparation of the capital budget and planning including leasing and other forms of financing, reserves and replacements. Must also determine applicable depreciation and recovery rates to apply to capitalized assets and advise management on such matters
  • Negotiates and maintains contracts for maintenance of computers and office equipment
  • Oversees member billing and collection procedures
  • Compiles, approves, and maintains credit applications for vendors
  • Maintains Fixed Assets ledgers and prepares depreciation schedules for monthly entries
  • Handles assigned projects as they relate to the department and club needs
  • Audits members and guests' charges
  • Audits all cash and charge expenditures
  • Safeguards all funds in bank accounts; assures that revenues are properly and correctly deposited and supervises the drawing of all checks
  • Monitors collection of past due accounts and advises General Manager, Club Treasurer and Board of Directors when difficult situations may arise
  • Manages Club's hardware and software maintenance and development with a third-party IT support specialist and within budgeted guidelines
  • Prepares accounting reports as necessary and appropriate for dissemination to the Board of Governors, Executive Committee, and other Club Committees
  • Establishes and maintains tournament accounting records and financial statements
  • Position reports to the General Manager

QUALIFICATIONS & KEY CHARACTERISTICS:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance or a related field and experience that provides the required finance, knowledge, skills, and abilities. A CPA would be viewed as a plus, but not required.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks at a time in a fast-paced environment
  • Fantastic customer service ethic and high expectations for quality
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint are required
  • Highly polished personal presentation of self
  • Experience with Jonas Club Management Software is preferred
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) are necessary
  • Must be very detail-oriented
  • Confident at speaking with members daily
  • Must be flexible to accommodate irregular or extended hours and duties

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $58,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
