Point of Care Technician

Job description

Works with Point of Care Testing (POCT) manager, POCT Technical Specialist, and hospital staff performing POCT to ensure policies and procedures for POCT are followed. Conducts training and competency assessment for waived tests to ensure hospital staff are familiar with the preanalytical and analytical procedures, maintenance and troubleshooting of the POCT equipment.# Assists with distribution of quality control materials, assist with correlation testing, and performs quality audits to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.# Is familiar with CLIA, Joint Commission and CAP laboratory standards.# Assists with data collection for monitoring quality, and assists with special projects as needed as directed by the POCT manager.Must have knowledge of laboratory CLIA, CAP and hospital regulatory requirements. Associates Degree in medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution required. MLT(ASCP) certification required. Must have effective interpersonal and communication skills, (verbal, nonverbal and listening skills). Must have knowledge of issues regarding patient safety. Must have Ability to discuss POCT issues with non-laboratory personnel. Strong organization skills with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment independently or part of a team required. Must be detailed oriented with strong analytic/problem solving skills:# Knowledge of laboratory theory and techniques.Computer skills: Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint, MediaLab.##
