Business Development Specialist (Remote / Work From Home)


Hello, and thank you for taking the time to learn about our company and this brand-new Business Development role that we have recently created.


Our company, Safari Micro, was founded in 1997 and is based in sunny Chandler, Arizona. We are a privately held, profitable and well established VAR ("Value Added Reseller" - think smaller CDW or Insight Corp) of computer hardware, software, and IT services to small and large companies and governmental agencies/municipalities throughout the United States.


Our IT Services ("ITS") division provides consulting and managed IT services to our clients throughout the U.S. The team consists of a group of extremely smart, talented and truly personable/fun (a mix of characteristics you don't often find in the IT world) IT professionals who get along extremely well and truly love what they do (except on Monday mornings, but who likes Mondays anyway?). Because of their talents and personalities, the division has seen rapid growth over the last few years. The global Covid-19 pandemic has only increased our growth trajectory as a large number of our existing and new clients are leveraging our expertise to effectively allow their employees to work remotely in a cloud environment. As we grow the team, we are also looking to grow their book of business. For that reason, we are excited to announce that we have created our first "Lead Generation Specialist" role to help us do just that.


This will be a permanent "work from home" position, reporting directly to our Chief Operating Officer. Because it will be a full time remote position which can be done from anywhere in the U.S, we absolutely require that all candidates must have a dedicated, quiet home office space and a reliable, high speed internet connection. Our corporate HQ is located in Arizona, and depending on where this person will be located, the 'standard' daytime work schedule may be somewhat accommodating to your needs. Frankly, we're all about the results you achieve…if you're consistently doing what you've been hired to do (i.e., prospecting and setting up new appointments for our ITS team), we can provide some flexibility in your daily schedule. One of the easiest ways to succeed in any position such as this is to truly BELIEVE in the product or service that you're selling. The GREAT news is, our IT services team is composed of some of the best IT guys and gals you can find in this industry. And by "best," we mean that they have an extraordinary balance of both technical talent and wonderful personalities. These are not your 'normal' geeky IT people that you hide in a corner. These are genuinely great people whose personalities and technical expertise you can feel 100% comfortable in 'selling' to the prospects that you contact. If you can set up the appointment, we feel very strongly there is a high probability of that client closing a deal...and getting you paid. And isn't that the point of this? ;-)



Principal Responsibilities:

This list of "Principal Responsibilities" (aka, job duties) is somewhat short and simple for a good reason: If you're the highly successful and experienced IT lead generation professional that we're looking for, you already know exactly what it takes to flourish in this role! All we need you to do is talk to us about the skills you have honed over the years that have allowed you to succeed in a role like this. Along with why you feel that you will be able to utilize those same skills to achieve your goals here as well. With that said, here are a few of the obvious things we will expect out of the person we hire for this position:

  • You are a cold calling and email prospecting PHENOM. This is NOT AN EASY JOB. We need someone who can pound out 100+ cold calls a day. But if you're in this business and succeeding, you already know that. Make no bones about it, this position is about grinding away on the phone, cold calling people who probably don't want to talk to you, and sending emails out with the knowledge that the majority of people will instantly click "delete." But if you're the person we need here, you already know that and you're not afraid of it. You're the person who isn't intimidated by the steady stream of "NO" that comes your way every day. You're motivated by the knowledge that you WILL find that next potential client who needs our help. Nothing is cooler than hearing that prospect say to you, "YES, I want to talk to your team. I'm gonna give you a shot." THAT sentence is why you do what you do. And if that's you…we REALLY want to talk with you.
  • Through cold calling, emailing, and using your networking skills, we need you to set up new client appointments that our VP of IT Services and the appropriate ITS staff can attend for the sole purpose of gaining new business.
  • We need you to do the appropriate amount of research to effectively understand and target the right users for our services. You'll need to effectively utilize the sales lead tools we provide to you, such as LinkedIn / SalesNavigator; ZoomInfo, etc.



Desired Qualifications and Work Experience:

  • We are an IT company. Therefore, we absolutely require someone who has an extremely strong grasp of our industry. Ideally, we need someone who understands how to 'pitch' the various IT services that we provide, such as one-time consulting engagements (such as O365 migrations; network remediation or setup; Microsoft Azure implementations and migrations); managed IT services as an MSP ("Managed Services Provider"); selling customized IT hardware and software solutions based on the immediate and future needs of our clients.
  • Based on that knowledge, we are looking for someone with at least 3 years of experience in high volume appointment setting and / or lead generation campaigns that strongly focus on IT services such as those mentioned in the bullet above.
  • Seems obvious, but in order to successfully perform this role, we need someone who is driven, energetic, goal oriented, has excellent written and verbal communication skills, and keeps track of the 'little details' relating to the work you're doing and the people you're talking to.
  • YOU LISTEN. Anyone can just talk, talk, talk. We need someone who asks their potential prospects about their IT issues, LISTENS to what they say, takes very detailed notes on what the client is saying, and records those for future reference. You probably won't close an appointment on the first call. But on the subsequent calls, you'll have those notes, and that prospect will be impressed you remembered what they said last time…voila, you're one step closer to setting an appointment because you LISTENED and took good notes.
  • And that skill leads us into another characteristic we want to see in this person…the ability to gradually cultivate new relationships in this industry.



Compensation: We're Flexible - Base Salary + Lucrative Commission Plan - First Yr OTE $80k+

We truly believe that for the individual who has the personality and skill sets we need, this is a business development opportunity that will allow you to make more money than you ever have in this profession. We like to take a very "common sense" approach to compensation, because if you truly have the experience we need, we want to talk to you, no matter what your compensation level is. We are a profitable, stable company with the financial resources which allow us to afford top tier talent. But in addition to the base, we will work with you to create a unique and lucrative bonus / commission plan based on the number and quality of appointments set and sales closed. Since this will be our first full time business development professional, we'll work with you to structure a generous, equitable commission plan that effectively motivates you to do your best. No maximum earnings potential, and no "caps" on your commissions. The harder you work and the better you become at this, the more you'll make. And who doesn't want to work hard when you appreciate your compensation plan?


However, we're quite confident that we can offer you more than just a pay increase. You'll work with our COO and management team to ensure that you're focused on building long term, lasting relationships with new clients; you're consistently pointed in the right direction for success,; and you have the support from us you need, when you need it.
