The Position - Corporate FP&A Leader


Smart Wires is currently looking for a Corporate FP&A Leader to bolster financial insight, and to identify and drive opportunities to improve the company's financial position.


Smart Wires is reimagining the grid with our modular Flexible AC Transmission Systems (FACTS) solutions. The Smart Wires Finance team provides leadership and support to Smart Wires' goal of developing and implementing technologies that advance the delivering of electricity around the world.


The Corporate FP&A Leader serves as a key business partner in providing financial and strategic support to the CEO and CFO. The role leads the end-to-end financial performance metrics definition and goal setting process, from design to implementation, monitoring, and improvement. Working collaboratively with the Business Finance leads, the Corporate FP&A leader will define and manage adherence to financial operating rhythms and corporate FP&A policies and procedures. The role also includes oversight for all financial planning and reporting systems to support robust reporting, planning, and analysis.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Lead Financial Planning: Establish and manage annual financial planning process, including scope setting, timeline management, template management, and meeting and material facilitation. Build and maintain robust financial models for income statement, cash flow, and balance sheet.
  • Manage Financial Performance Reporting & Analytics: Develop and implement a monthly, quarterly, and annual variance analysis infrastructure and reporting framework. Develop financial presentations that communicate trends, areas of risk and opportunity, and plan of action. Continuously improve monthly reporting to include comprehensive Key Performance Indicators (KPI), analysis of business trends and drivers to improve predictability of financial planning. Oversee ad-hoc reporting, financial analysis, and support for corporate initiatives assigned by the CFO.
  • Oversee FP&A Governance: Define and manage adherence to financial operating rhythms. Collaborate with Business Finance leads to strengthen FP&A discipline including the development and adoption of common process and policies across the enterprise. Oversee financial planning systems to ensure data structure and planning and reporting tools are able to provide meaningful analysis of actual results, forecasts, and business reviews
  • Partner with Key Internal Functions: Provide support to investor relations including earnings release presentations, guidance analysis, and Q&A preparation. Partner with G&A functions to improve financial acumen and insight.


Required Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree with a major in finance, business, or accounting; MBA, or equivalent, preferred
  • 10+ years of experience in FP&A in a manufacturing / product industry with 5 years corporate FP&A experience; tenure in publicly traded company preferred
  • Exceptional skills in leadership, critical thinking and analysis, and interpersonal interactions
  • Excellent communicator who can convey information to a wide variety of audiences and prepare quality presentations adjusted as necessary to meet audience needs
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills; Experience working with large, complex data sets
  • Demonstrated record of tangible improvements in results/processes during career
  • High performing, high energy self-starter, with proven ability to lead a high performing team in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment
  • Comfortable working in an organization operating in a state of change/transformation
  • Ability to thrive and succeed in an entrepreneurial environment and not be hindered by ambiguity or multiple competing priorities

Location

  • This position is located in Raleigh, North Carolina. This opportunity may require travel up to 10%.
