Job description
BlueChip Financial (BCF) is looking for a qualified Senior Accountant to oversee general accounting operations by controlling and verifying our financial transactions. Reporting to the VP of Financial Data Systems, this position is responsible for developing and implementing processes and systems for easy and accurate accounting.

In this role, you will
* Verify, allocate, post, and reconcile accounting transactions
* Analyze financial information and summarize financial status
* Spot errors and suggest ways to improve efficiency and spending
* Manage staff accountant(s) and/or bookkeeper(s), including planning, assigning, and reviewing their work.
* Provide input into departments goal setting process
* Assist in setting and implementing a timely budget
* Support month-end and year-end close processes
* Prepare draft governmental-GAAP basis financials for review by the VP of Financial Data Systems
* Ensure compliance with GAAP principles
* Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
* Review and recommend modifications to existing accounting systems and procedures
* Assist the VP of Financial Data Systems with preparing for and responding to audits
* Provide technical support to the VP of Financial Data Systems
Qualifications
* Proven experience as a staff-accountant, financial controller, accounting supervisor, chief accountant, or senior accountant
* Thorough knowledge of basic accounting procedures
* In-depth understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
* FP&A experience preferred but is not required
* Awareness of business trends
* Familiarity with financial accounting statements
* Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process
Requirements
* Proven experience as a staff-accountant, financial controller, accounting supervisor, chief accountant, or senior accountant
* Thorough knowledge of basic accounting procedures
* In-depth understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
* FP&A experience preferred but is not required
* Awareness of business trends
* Familiarity with financial accounting statements
* Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process
* Hands-on experience with accounting software packages, like QuickBooks Online and/or Intacct.
* Advanced MS Excel skills
* Accuracy and attention to detail
* Aptitude for numbers and quantitative skills
* BS degree in Accounting, Finance or relevant (or an Associate Degree in accounting with advanced experience.)
* Relevant certification (e.g. CMA or CPA) preferred but is not required.
Location and Travel
BCF is headquartered in Belcourt, North Dakota with a satellite office in Greater Minneapolis (Hopkins), Minnesota. This position can be located at either office and will require travel to the alternative office regularly. Travel may also be required to industry conferences and for vendor management, which may vary at times. Total travel should flex between 10% and 30% per month.
