Widely recognized for our expertise in implementing federal programs on behalf of refugees and migrants in the United States, LIRS resettles refugees, reunites children with their families or provides loving homes for them, conducts policy advocacy, and advances the protection and rights of vulnerable migrants.

DUTIES

* Under minimal supervision develops, inspire, and coordinate volunteers to support the LIRS North Dakota operation.
* Conducts orientation for new volunteers, educates on relevant cultural practices, and prepares them for specific duties.
* Develops assignments appropriate to volunteers' interests, coordinates schedules for such assignments, and places volunteer in roles most appropriately suited to needs, availability, and abilities.
* Manages the day-to-day office activities as it relates to Volunteer Services to include maintaining the front desk, managing personnel, and clerical volunteer staff, ordering supplies, scheduling appointments, handling telephone inquiries, and walk-ins, and performing bookkeeping functions, including coordination of timekeeping activity.
* Manages builds and maintains relationships with individual volunteers and volunteer groups.
* Develops collaborative and supportive working relationships between program participants and volunteers.
* Advice Case Management team of any issues arising from volunteer and program participants interactions and or volunteer service delivery.
* Monitors volunteer performance, develops, and coordinates volunteer work schedules, and assists in establishing standards of performance and productivity.
* Implements standard operating procedures, reviews, and improvements to enhance volunteer services and activities.
* Support the recruitment and vetting of volunteers.
* Supports inventory of in-kind items.
* Monitors volunteers' satisfaction, productivity and provides recognition as appropriate.
* Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

* Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
* Experience in coordinating volunteer programs or similar roles required.
* Knowledge and understanding of refugee resettlement, or other relevant cross-cultural experiences a plus.
* Ability to maintain a pleasant, customer-centered demeanor and professional image under a variety of challenging situations.
* Strong organizational and time management skills.
* Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and change direction quickly.
* Exceptional interpersonal skills, including keen listening ability, relationship building, and community outreach.
* Ability to work as a team member and independently, with a high level of self-motivation.
* Skill in using computer applications applicable to the department as well as database, Excel, and Microsoft Word.
* Desire to connect with people from diverse backgrounds.
* High degree of cultural humility and emotional intelligence.
* Valid insurance and a reliable vehicle to be able to travel locally as required for the performance of duties.
* Analytical skills to interpret and communicate policies and procedures, and to identify and initiate appropriate corrective action to resolve problems.
* Commitment to LIRS's core mission and values and an ability to model those values in relationship with colleagues, and partners, commitment to refugees and immigrants.
