We're looking to add a Senior IP Counsel to our Legal team here at Rockwell Automation. This is a great opportunity to join a stable and secure organization during an exciting time of change and growth.
Key Responsibilities:
* Responsible for ensuring maximum legal protection for the company's IP assets such as patents, trademarks, copyrights and trade secrets and related intangible and patentable properties.
* Works with abstract ideas or situations across functional areas of the business. Through assessment of intangible variables, identifies and evaluates fundamental issues, providing strategy and direction for major functional areas. Develops in-depth knowledge of the functional area, business strategies, and the company's goals.
* Directs and controls the activities of one or more functional areas, divisions, product groups or service areas through managers who have overall responsibility of the successful operations of those assigned areas.
* Develops corporate and/or organizational policies and authorizes their implementation. Detailed knowledge of company allows for innovative concepts and promoting new ideas.
* Provides direction to senior managers in various areas, groups, and/or operations. Recognized as an influential leader.
* Interacts internally and externally with executive level management, including negotiation of important matters. Influences policy making. Creates formal networks involving coordination among groups.
* Develops resolution to critical issues and broad company matters in creative and effective ways.

Basic Qualifications
* Bachelor's Degree
* J.D. from accredited Law School
* USPTO registration as a patent attorney
* Legal authorization to work in the US is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening
Preferred Qualifications
* 8-10 years of law firm or corporate experience with at least 5 years of law firm experience
* 5 years patent application preparation and prosecution experience
* Experience supporting a global organization
* Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills; ability to describe, translate and explain complex technical concepts into compelling stories
* Project management experience
