The engineer will become the referent regarding TPE raw materials in Life Sciences working closely with the TPE platform leader.The incumbent's mission will be: Key contact for assessing technical risk of incoming supplier changes. Project lead for highly technical changes. Data learning to link incoming raw material specifications (RMS) with finish good products and how to adjust the process to set the appropriate RMS Strategic dual sourcing, consolidation, and/or regionalization of critical raw materials Close partnership with the TPE Team to define the raw material impact on other projects Coordinate with the TPE Leader and marketing teams to propose a road map of changes As a critical thinker and eager learner, the raw material engineer will also have to: Have deep polymer knowledge Follow required regulatory Food & Beverage, Medical, EPA, and Reach/RoHS changes along with the Regulatory team Understand the regulatory changes and how that would impact the raw material and finished good. Execute project plans, design and conduct experiments, analyze data, and present findings in written and oral formats. Manages multiple projects simultaneously, on time, well documented and within budget. Is able to balance creativity with process and documentation. Have the ability to prepare samples and perform physical property testing in the Akron Test Lab. Be capable of coordinating with outside vendors and internal functions. Maintain an open and collaborative approach in all areas of responsibility. Seek out others to enhance and streamline development and decision making. Member of the MT&I TPE team, understand the process as a whole, and understand which projects may impact the rest of the process. Work with teammates to support and make sure bottlenecks are not created in other areas.The MT&I team, is the bridge between R&D and operations, the objective of the team is to look at the future of our processes and innovate on the defined KPIs. We are a global team, located across the world. The position will be part of the MT&I TPE TeamRequired Qualifications BS Degree in Engineering with preference in chemical engineering or polymer or material science related field Required MS Degree preferred 5+ years of experience in polymer material and product development 5+ years of experience leading projects from beginning to end with setting timelines, assigning tasks, reporting progress, organizing steering committee & engaging the team 3+ years of experience working with the Regulatory Affairs experts to qualify materials as required by the end market. Experience with previous regulatory changes and risk assessments. Thermoplastic Elastomer and/or flexible PVC material expertise, processing knowledge, understanding of material structure-property relationship and its impact on processing and application Influential Leadership: Capable to engage people that do not directly report to position, and gain commitment to complete tasks.Company SummarySaint-Gobain's innovations touch almost every major industry around the world.
