Position Purpose:

This position will complement MCC's existing team of research and development professionals within the CPG group and provide support to the Division globally.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for supporting the daily operations of the physical testing and analytical laboratory
  • Perform laboratory testing work on label materials (Pressure Sensitive, Shrink, Heat Transfer, In-Mold, Cut and Stack) in an accurate and timely manner
  • Safely and efficiently complete routine analysis (operate testing equipment)
  • Responsible for routine maintenance, calibration and troubleshooting of laboratory physical testing and analytical instruments
  • Maintain a laboratory notebook and associated experiments, data, and results (perform data entry and maintain laboratory information )
  • Develop and commercialize new product innovations (under the management of a Product Leadership Engineer)
  • Support technical/field service problem solving teams
  • The ideal candidate will have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, external customers and internal clients
  • Understand and carry out all instructions
  • Read and interpret ASTM and MCC Internal testing standards
  • Communicate effectively, both in writing and verbally.
  • He or she will have good organizational skills as well as a basic knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Office Suite (Excel and Word). This position requires knowledge of basic mathematical computations and the ability to physically perform the essential duties.
  • Ability to travel to other locations as needed to support development work externally.

Requirements for the Laboratory Technician

  • 3+ years of experience working in a lab, preferably in a production facility desirable
  • AS or BS degree or equivalent work experience
  • Working knowledge of chemistry principles
  • Working knowledge of general lab operations and EH&S procedures and principles
  • Experience with wet chemistry and physical sample analysis would be a plus
  • Analytical instrumentation experience, preferably with FTIR and/or GC would be a plus
  • Lab experience at a Production Facility would be a plus
