The Human Resources Manager at the Cleveland Marriott East will lead and direct the routine functions of the Human Resources (HR) department including hiring and interviewing staff, administering pay, benefits, and leave, and enforcing company policies and practices...and being the leader of our CARE culture=fun and recognition!


A day in the life of a Human Resources Manager:

  • Partner with the leadership team to understand and execute the hotel's human resource and talent strategy particularly as it relates to current and future talent needs, recruiting, retention, and succession planning.
  • Manages the talent acquisition process, which may include recruitment, interviewing, and hiring of qualified job applicants, particularly for managerial, exempt, and professional roles; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
  • Provide support and guidance to managers and other staff when complex, specialized, and sensitive questions and issues arise.
  • Analyze trends in compensation and benefits; researches and proposes competitive base and incentive pay programs to ensure the organization attracts and retains top talent.
  • Administer learning and development programs and initiatives that provide internal development opportunities for employees. Facilitate regulatory training.
  • Oversee employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Plan engaging employee events.
  • Support the hotel's payroll process.
  • Assist with unemployment and worker's comp claims.
  • Responsible for overseeing the day-to-day administration of all benefits including (401(k), Medical, Vision, Dental, LTD, Life & AD&D, as well as ancillary benefits such as PTO, vacation, sick, holiday etc.) and the answering of questions from employees regarding such.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or relevant education is required.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills, along with demonstrated ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with maximum efficiency, accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Must have experience in all Microsoft Office and industry relevant HRIS systems.
  • Ability to work effectively in Microsoft Excel to create spreadsheets regularly
  • Demonstrated ability to work cohesively with a team.
  • Ability to exercise sound logic and judgment in evaluating situations and utilizing appropriate resources.
  • Must be self-directed, motivated and demonstrate exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills.
