CLINICAL COORDINATOR / SURGICAL TECHNICIAN INSTRUCTOR

JOB DESCRIPTION

POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Clinical Coordinator / Surgical Technician Instructor shall be responsible for meeting all of the clinical education objectives of the program, coordinating clinical education with the didactic education as assigned by the Program Director and the placement and supervision of students at their clinical sites.

The Clinical Coordinator / Surgical Technician Instructor reports to the Program Director.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Coordinate completion of all clinical competencies, as per the clinical check-off sheets, and ensure that all of the objectives are met during the duration of the clinical rotation.

• Maintains accurate updated attendance and grades for all students completing the practicum components of the program.

• Maintains a schedule of regular visits to clinical sites to evaluate the progress of student education and clinical education effectiveness.

• Work with the affiliate Department Supervisors in a cooperative effort to provide smooth and effective clinical training of students.

• Ensure that there are enough clinical sites for the students to be placed at during their clinical rotation. This may require the cultivation of new clinical facilities.

• Work with the students in the laboratory to assist the students in developing proficiency of the skills required to produce sonography examinations of high technical quality, as required.

• Teaches classes as assigned by the Program Director.

• Advises and provides tutorial assistance to students as needed.

• Conducts Continuing Education Seminars with the Clinical Instructors annually to ensure consistency throughout the clinical sites.

• Maintains current knowledge in the field through continuing professional development

• Maintain professional appearance.

• Communicate with Lead Instructor or Program Director on all issues related to students.

• Maintain Certifications and/or Licenses in good standing, as applicable

• Ensure students follow the catalog guidelines daily

• Attend all scheduled mandatory meetings.

• Serve on committees as assigned.

• Perform other duties as required.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

• Associate's degree required.

• Certified Surgical Technician

• Minimum of 4 years of industry experience working in Surgical Technology

COMPENSATION

• Compensation dependent on experience, knowledge and education level

OTHER

• At the discretion of the Academic Dean / Program Director, full time faculty are expected to teach at least one class and clinical rotation. Contact hours directly with students should be around 20-25 hours per week.

• In addition to teaching platform duties full time faculty will be expected to engage in; tutoring, class preparation, curriculum development, faculty development, office hours, departmental meetings, and substitute for colleagues as assigned. There is no additional compensation for these activities.
