SUMMARY:
Will provide supervision for the microbiology area of the laboratory, ensure regulatory requirements are met, and implement process change improvements that continue to enhance clinical excellence.
Will be a positive influence, committed to improving the performance of the workgroup and the organization as a whole.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide outstanding customer service to internal and external customers.
Maintains knowledge of laboratory tests and annually evaluate test menu for growth opportunity.
Scope of responsibility may include oversight of daily operations, direct management of quality control programs, employee competency assessments, implementation of new test platforms, assistance with capitol and operating budget.
In depth knowledge and understanding of CAP and CLIA regulatory requirements for clinical laboratory.
Maintains knowledge and assists the organization in complying with all regulatory agencies including HFAP, OSHA, and HIPPA.
Maintain knowledge of employee performance review document.
May provide assistance to coordinate employee absence events.
Oversight management of projects assigned by manager or director.
Maintains the highest level of professionalism and confidentiality at all times.
EDUCATION/REQUIREMENTS:
Med Tech and ASCP certified(MT ASCP).
Excellent interpersonal, decision-making, facilitation, conflict resolution, and investigative skills.
Demonstrated excellence with listening, verbal, and written communication skills.
Ability to provide outstanding customer service and maintain a high degree of confidentiality.
ADDITIONAL INFO:
The position is located east of Columbus.
The department has a great team and the director is well respected.
Position is full time 40hr/week and the hours are 6:30am-3;00pm and will work 1-2 weekends/month.
40% supervisory and 60% benchwork-plate reading, identifying organisms and sensitivity training. Main equipment used includes: Panther, Cepheid & Vitek.
staff/daytime Microbiologists and gram stain / culture set up competency assessment for about fifteen 2nd and 3rd shift Generalists.
Responsible for compliance with CAP regulatory guidelines, ODH guidelines, QC, QA, Policy and Procedures, oversight of employee competency assessment, and assists with employee performance review.
Annual microbiology test volume test volume reported to the CAP is approximately 125,000.
Committee member for Infection Prevention and Antibiotic Stewardship.
3 Pathologists on site Monday through Friday.
The position is non exempt, so person would be eligible for overtime and $1.05 weekend shift differential when working.
The position will offer between 54K-72K(someone with 10 yrs will be around 61K)K and a full benefit package is offered.
