Job description
Summary of Responsibilities:
- Performs: (1) annuity and life insurance reviews in accordance with state regulations across applicable distribution channels and subsidiaries of Western & Southern Financial Group (W&SFG) and (2) securities reviews in accordance with FINRA and SEC requirements for registered and other applicable products distributed through Western & Southern Brokerage Services (W&SBS). Evaluates whether business transactions are in compliance with regulatory requirements and W&SFG policies and procedures, and thoroughly documents the approval or rejection decision. Works with limited supervision, handles multiple priorities and is responsible for making a broad range of decisions while escalating to management as necessary.
Position Responsibilities:
- Evaluates the completeness and accuracy of applicable documentation required to conduct the annuity, life insurance or securities review. 20%
- Conducts annuity, life insurance and securities reviews and thoroughly documents the approval or rejection decision. 30%
- Professionally and effectively communicates with internal and external sales management and producers to resolve documentation discrepancies and convey regulatory requirements and decisions. 15%
- Analyzes and interprets data for compliance management and key W&SFG stakeholders. Identifies risk factors and/or noncompliant activity, and escalates to compliance management. 5%
- Develops and maintains advanced-level knowledge of products offered by W&SFG and internal policies and procedures to facilitate the expedient review of business transactions. 5%
- Develops and maintains advanced-level knowledge of applicable state, FINRA and SEC requirements. Collaborates with multiple areas of the company to understand changes in the industry and the impact on the annuity and securities review function. 5%
- Strives to master procedures for all distribution channels and subsidiaries of W&SFG. Consistently identifies system or procedural problems, and recommends improvements with a focus on operational efficiency through reporting, training opportunity identification, cohesion with initiatives and deployment of appropriate technologies. 5%
- Participates in the design, testing, modification and implementation of any new or existing suitability, commission, contracting, imaging, policy administration or third-party systems. 5%
- Successfully trains others on all job functions of the Annuity and Securities Reviewer position. 5%
- Performs other duties as assigned by management. 5%
Selection Criteria:
- Proven strong analytical and research skills, including demonstrated experience identifying, defining and resolving problems, and collecting or interpreting data to establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the life insurance and brokerage industry to include products, distribution channels, and understanding of regulations and regulatory environment.
- Demonstrated experience maintaining a calm and professional demeanor when handling stressful situations with a focus on demonstrating flexibility to meet departmental and customer needs.
- Demonstrated strong verbal and written communication skills with success interpreting and communicating business needs and solutions between internal groups and external vendors in a clear, accurate, focused and concise manner. Demonstrated ability to document procedures and activities in a manner that is understandable to others and prepared using a prescribed format.
- Proven high degree of attention to detail, organizational skills and time management skills. Cites examples of organization and time management methods used to manage or prioritize workloads.
Work Setting:
- This position works in an office setting and remains continuously in a stationary position for long periods of time while working at a desk, on a computer or with other standard office equipment, or while in meetings.
- Requires visual acuity to read a variety of correspondence, reports and forms and to prepare and analyze data in an accurate, neat and thorough manner.
Educational Requirements:
- College degree or equivalent work experience.
Computer Skills and Knowledge of Hardware & Software Required:
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Access, Word, etc.).
- Working knowledge of database applications.
Certifications & Licenses (i.e., Series 6 & 63, CPA, etc.):
- Series 6, 63 and 26 required. (If not currently licensed as such, must be obtained within 60 days of employment.)
Position Demands:
- Extended hours required during peak workloads or special projects.
