Job description

Job Summary: Functions as the key personal contact person between the Food and Nutrition Services Department and the patient. Delivers meals and assists with patient meal services. Provides a variety of food service duties to provide quality, safe food for the satisfaction of our patients/customers. Upholds the mission, vision, values, and customer service standards of The MetroHealth System. Responsibilities:Contributes to patient safety by:a. Providing a safe environment for patients.b. Reporting safety concerns, errors and near misses.c. Participating in system improvement initiatives to prevent errors.d. Providing evidence-based care as applicable to the role. 1. Delivers meals a. Uses scripts for patient interactions. b. Remains flexible and responsive to the needs of the patient/customer while demonstrating excellent customer service. c. Uses patient identifiers, verifies diet orders or NPO status as needed. d. Documents time and location of tray deliveries using electronic tracking devicese. Verifies tray accuracy and meal needs at time of delivery. f. Conducts guest tray transactionsg. Retrieves soiled trays returning to designated area 2. Assist with patient meal services on nursing unitsa. Assisting patients with food orders and maintains working knowledge of therapeutic dietsb. Filling patient water pitchers and preparing over-bed trays for meal delivery.c. Cleans and maintains assigned nourishment rooms while replacing inventory and stock as needed. d. Checking and recording refrigerator temperatures as required.e. Adhering to isolation room protocols as required. 3. Supports patient meal services in main kitchen a. Restocks service line. b. Conducts expeditor or line duties as needed. c. Relieves call center associate during breaks or as necessaryd. Cleans and maintains equipment such as delivery carts, electronic devices, etc. 4. Maintains a safe and clean work environmenta. Follows proper hand washing/glove use and personal hygiene techniques to prevent food borne illnessb. Reports all unsafe/broken equipment or potentially hazardous situations.c. Uses cleaning chemicals consistently and appropriate for the taskd. Demonstrates proper use of various equipment used in daily activitiese. Uses proper body mechanics in all activities and protective equipment when needed.f. Assists with dish room and ware washing activities 5. Assists in the orientation of new employees. 6. Performs other functionally related duties as assigned. Qualifications:Required:Able to read and write in English . Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment.Electronic competency to enter meal or stock order and track meals through the facility. Ability to communicate well with patients and staff using verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Preferred:HS Diploma or passage of a high school equivalency exam. Physical Requirements:May sit, stand, stoop, bend, and walk intermittently during the day. May need to sit or stand for extended periods.See in the normal visual range with or without correction.Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.Ability to lift 250-300 pounds with assistance.Ability to push/pull up to 500 pounds with assistance.Requires some exposure to communicable diseases or body fluids.
