Job description

Position: Technician - Cell-Based Immunoassays

The Cell-Based Immunoassays Technician is responsible for the regulatory and scientific conduct of method development and validation for gene and cell therapy. Perform analytical testing for immune reactivity to a variety of formulations and delivery systems using multiple analytical instrumentation and detection techniques (see full list below), and record data in adherence with SOPs and any additional requirements specific to the lab and/or client.


Responsibilities:


  • Performs analytical testing for pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical compounds in a variety of formulations and delivery systems.
  • Understands and conforms to methods, SOPs, and study protocols applicable to assigned tasks.
  • Provides first drafts of SOPs, methods, and technical reports.
  • Recognizes and documents experimental deviations/irregularities. Investigates irregular results to identify root cause(s) and document any corrective action(s).
  • Assists laboratory management with evaluations of new equipment, procedures and technologies.
  • Ensures all equipment used is routinely maintained and/or calibrated.
  • Provides laboratory management with regular updates regarding project status.
  • Assists with routine functions such as supplying and performing inventory, stocking, material preparation and acceptance testing, process improvement studies and projects.
  • Sample accessioning, tracking, and storage.
  • Cleans and supports laboratory space; performs general lab maintenance.
  • Prepares media and reagent stocks, autoclaves and disposes of bio-hazardous waste, maintains supply inventory, places supply orders.
  • Performs and documents assays according to standard operating procedures and in accordance with Good Laboratory Practice (GLP).


Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Molecular biology, Biochemistry, Immunology, Molecular Genetics or a related field with work experience conducting one or all of the following: PBMC isolation, ELISAs, ELISpot, flow cytometry, bead-based arrays (Bio-plex/Luminex), or in vitro functional tests such as cytotoxicity or viral neutralization assays.
  • Experience with sample processing of complex sample types (blood, spleen, liver, bone marrow, saliva, urine, stool).
  • Experience performing testing in animal models and/or human subjects.
  • Quality management experience (GxP)
  • Adherence to all laboratory safety requirements
  • Schedule flexibility sufficient to accommodate occasional non-standard work hours.
  • Ability to work in a BSL-2 research laboratory environment which includes periods of bench-work and working in a bio-safety cabinet, and ability to wear respiratory protection
  • Must be willing to be immunized with licensed and FDA approved vaccines and medications recommended for persons at risk to occupational exposures.
