We are currently seeking a Molecular Biologist. This position is located in Columbus, OH.

JOB SUMMARY

Battelle's CBRNE Business Line is seeking a scientist who possesses a strong background in microbiology, molecular biology and biochemistry. This is primarily a non-lab position providing technical leadership and support for a variety of programs. The successful candidate will conduct information acquisition activities and apply the principles, theories and concepts of biology to address technical questions in Biological Warfare (BW) defense and counter-proliferation for U.S. Government clients. Tasks will include reading and analyzing scientific literature and writing reports on various technical topics related to BW defense, counter-proliferation, dual-use technologies, and medical countermeasures to BW agents. The successful candidate must show an interest in learning, the ability to work well in a team environment, and be comfortable speaking in front of their peers and clients. The candidate must be eligible to obtain and maintain a SECRET level U.S. Government security clearance and cannot possess dual citizenship.

THE FOLLOWING IS REQUIRED

• PhD in Biology, Molecular Biology, Microbiology, or Biochemistry with 0-2 years of experience
• Proficient with scientific databases (e.g. SciFinder, PubMed, ScienceDirect)
• Ability to research and analyze scientific, medical, and patent literature
• Ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance
• Willingness to work in small groups or independently as necessary
• Demonstrated technical writing skills, shown by articles published in technical journals, reports, theses, etc.
• Must be US Citizen
• Other duties as assigned

THE FOLLOWING IS DESIRED

• Familiarity with reference management software (e.g. EndNote, RefMan) and authoring in media-wiki software
• Experience reviewing and assessing BW Defense topics
• Currently possess a DoD sponsored Secret or Top Secret clearance
