Job description

  1. Plays a critical role in providing guidance and conduct chemical product development from literature search, material procuring, laboratory trials based on DOE (Design of Experiments), formulation optimization, laboratory stability studies, setting up specifications, technology transfer preparedness, assistance for scale-up, requirements for stability data, packaging, document preparations for trouble-shooting at any of the chemical product development stages. The position requires a high level of research and development skills, detail orientation, and analysis to provide recommendations to drive new product development strategies and results. Demonstration of successful experience relevant to formulation development for complex products.
  2. This role involves product pipeline feasibility evaluation along with providing updates for executive management decisions with respect to proposed plan of production. In brief, the role entails product development from initial stages of development though laboratory studies and production. This needs to be in accordance with manufacturing capability/ availability, GLP, GMP, and D&D development work, while meeting annual company goals.
  3. Effective interpersonal skills to work through problems with cross-functional team members and external members (manufacturing, sales support, regulatory, outside testing laboratories, and vendors of raw materials, container/closures etc.).
  4. Performs needed chemical and functional analyses with laboratory instruments following Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
  5. Prepares needed reagents, media, and test equipment required for analysis.
  6. Writes and reviews SOPs, technical reports, and as needed funding applications and serves as technical liaison for New Business Development and coordinates activities with other departments such as Production, Marketing, Sales, and Regulatory.
  7. Designs and executes new protocols for sample testing with eventual transference to appropriate SOPs.
  8. Plans and designs technical studies.
  9. Plans and supervises the work of other assigned laboratory personnel and conducts performance reviews and evaluations.
  10. Carries out necessary cleaning and maintenance of laboratory equipment.
  11. Is current with laboratory safety procedures and principles of Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP).
  12. Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  13. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  14. Self-motivated, proactive, detail oriented and able to manage multiple tasks while still meeting deadlines.
  15. Ability to successfully handle multiple, competing priorities in a fast-paced Team environment.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  1. Minimum: Bachelor's degree in chemistry or related discipline with 6 or more years of experience in formulation of complex industrial and/or consumer related products.
  2. Desired: Master's or Doctorate Degree with 10 or more years relevant experience in the formulation of complex industrial and/or consumer related products.
