Kelly Science & Clinical is seeking a Laboratory Technician to join their team in Dayton, OH for one of the world's largest chemical companies with a focus on specialty products. For immediate consideration, please email your resume directly to as well as apply online.

Laboratory Technician

~12-Month Contract (full-time, W2)

Pay Rate: TBD

Qualifications:

  • With guidance from supervision, primary responsibility is to assist technical personnel in general laboratory operations and routine laboratory or information handling tasks in support of scientific research.
  • Perform tasks according to accepted methods and training prescribed by the work group.

Experience & Attributes:

  • Experience working with glass reactors and setting up glassware.
  • Experience working in chemical manufacturing environment is a plus.
  • Able to perform physical work (e.g. lift up to 20 kg pails) consistent with corporate ergonomic guidelines.
  • Willing and able to wear personal protective equipment including respirator.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong personal commitment to safety, lab housekeeping, and ethical behavior.
  • Motivated self-starter, fast learner, problem solver, and team player.
  • Proven track record of meeting deadlines and ability to multi-task.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Synthesis and purification of polymers in 500 mL to 50 L lab and pilot-scale reactors.
  • Characterize polymers using analytical techniques.
  • Conduct experiments supporting R&D activities in a laboratory setting.
  • Maintain record of polymer synthesis batch and document observations.
  • Work safely in a chemical laboratory setting and follow lab safety operating procedures.
  • Maintain laboratory work areas through activities including track/procure raw materials, clean/maintain equipment & glassware, and waste management/disposal.
  • Good housekeeping and perform lab preventive maintenance duties in a timely manner.
  • Interact and work with a diverse team of scientists, chemists, and technicians.

Role (Job) Specific Requirements:

  • BS or associate degree in chemistry or related field.
  • Experience with polymer or organic synthesis and characterization.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Email.
