Job description

CFD Research is seeking a qualified and motivated Molecular Biologist to support projects encompassing the virology and immunology of SARS-CoV-2 and the utilization of advanced molecular biology techniques to develop biological recognition elements (BRE) to enrich libraries for next-generation sequencing and molecular detection. This position is located at the Wright Patterson Air Force Base. Candidates will bring expertise in molecular biology research and perform a variety of techniques, including DNA extraction, next generation sequencing, PCR, and microarray genotyping as needed in support of the project's research objectives characterizing aeromedical risk. In addition to performing molecular biology techniques, candidate will support the overall operations of the laboratory and will assist the development and review of research proposals, program reports, optimizing procedures, scientific literature, and other laboratory and project documents.

Requirements:

* Candidate must be a US Citizen and possess an active Secret Clearance
* Master's Degree in a Biological Science with an emphasis in molecular techniques (molecular biology, biochemistry, toxicology, pharmacology, immunology, or similar) and between 5 to10 years of experience performing molecular biology research.
* Experience in molecular biology: nucleic acid extraction, PCR, protein characterization, gel electrophoresis, molecular cloning.
* Experience with display and selection technologies: phage display, library selection, bacterial display, SELEX, or similar.
* Experience with advanced molecular characterization technologies: qRT-PCR, microarray (Illumina, Affymetrix, Agilent, etc.), next generation sequencing.
* Experience with scientific writing (peer-reviewed publications, technical reports, and/or conference proceedings).
* Experience with microbiology and/or analytical chemistry is preferable.
