Job description
Scope:
The Market Research Analyst is responsible for developing research plans, collecting market and consumer data in the Beauty and Personal Care industry, analyzing research results and generating reports and concept stories that support the marketing strategies and product ideation set forth by the innovation team. Our customers are leading brands in the Beauty and Personal Care industry in North America.
Primary Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
- Conducts extensive market research for determining brand perceptions, understanding customer needs, evaluating market penetration, and analyzing competitors in the Beauty and Personal Care industry.
- Plans and manages a wide range of research projects utilizing relevant marketing channels/sources, utilizing web messaging including social channels (Instagram, YouTube, Facebook, etc.), industry publications, new product launches.
- Generates quantitative and qualitative reports that provide insight to trends affecting product development, consumer behaviors, market opportunities and retailer/manufacturing performance.
- Collaborates with the marketing/innovation team, to develop modern marketing opportunities, product ideation, and to build and update a rolling relevant innovation pipeline.
- Collects and analyzes customer demographic and market data using primary and secondary research methods.
- Set-up Innovation Sessions with summarized Market Trends and Opportunities per product key category.
- Does weekly store visits and issues weekly reports. Manages a Market Visit database.
- Prepares ad-hoc reports for the KDC network that provide insight to other marketing initiatives.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Business Administration or other related fields.
- 1 to 2 years of experience preferred, or equivalent educational in experience, market research or product marketing.
- Experience with statistical analysis and research methodologies.
- Experience working in the Beauty and Personal Care industry or Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) markets desired but not required.
- Experience in/ familiar with working with marketing software and online tools.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Strong computer skills, including PowerPoint, Word and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong analytical and research skills, including internet research.
- Ability to understand FDA Good Manufacturing Practices Regulations (GMP's) and OSHA safety requirements.
- Self-starter with strong work ethic, positive attitude and strong attention to detail.
- Strong communication (both written and oral), interpersonal, team building and organizational skills.
- Ability to perform multiple tasks and projects simultaneously and manage time efficiently and effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to promote and participate in a team-oriented and collaborative environment.
- Ability to work independently without constant supervision.
- Ability to apply creativity and passion for the Beauty Industry to performance.*
Minimum Requirements:
- Able to work beyond normal work hours to complete assignments as required.
- Wear hairnet, safety glasses, long pants, steel toe shoes/boots and any other uniform standards, as required.
- Read, comprehend and follow written and verbal instructions, including SOPs.
- Sit at computer for long periods of time.
- Weekly local store visits required.
- Minimal travel required.
