Job description
POSITION: Human Resources Generalist
Newark - Heath, Ohio
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for providing support to the Human Resources department and performing HR and administrative job duties.
The HR Generalist's essential functions include:
- Maintain HRIS including new hires, terminations, job changes, wages, and/or personal information such as address and name changes
- Schedules interviews and pre-employment exams
- Maintains application forms and applicant flow logs in line with company policy
- Creates on-boarding schedules
- Conducts new hire orientation on company benefits and policies
- Process leave of absence requests including but not limited to FMLA, disability paperwork, medical and/or personal LOA requests
- Maintains and manage employee files and new hire paperwork
- Maintain policies, reports, procedures and document control for the department
- Retains records in line with company record retention requirements
- Manage job positing and bidding processes
- Maintain attendance records
- Assist with planning events such as retirement celebrations, company dinners and outings, and community involvement
- Coordinate and schedule meetings
- Order office supplies
- Answers routine inquiries from inside and outside the company on employment verifications, benefit information and general HR requests
- Other administrative duties as assigned
REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum 5 years of Human Resources experience, preferably in manufacturing
EDUCATION
- High School diploma required
- HR degree or PHR certification preferred
EXPERIENCE
This individual will possess:
- Advance knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Outlook
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential information with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
- Ability to work effectively with both employees and managers
- Ability to convey a positive and professional image to applicants and employees
- Excellent organizational and documentation skills, attention to detail, problem solving skills
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
- Must be able to prioritize multiple responsibilities and manage large workloads within tight deadlines
- Ability to function well in a high-paced environment
- Proven ability to work in teams
- Ability to operate general office equipment
- Ability to maintain the highly confidential nature of human resources work
- Previous experience in a manufacturing environment a plus
- Previous experience in Union environment a plus
- Requires adherence to all policies and procedures, including standards for safety, attendance, punctuality and personal appearance

WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Approximately 95% of the job function is performed in an office setting requiring normal safety precautions. 5% of the job function is required in the plant.
