The Underwriting Development Consultant will be responsible for facilitating various types of training for new and existing underwriting staff members on a variety of topics including guidelines, policies, procedures, and objectives. This role will collaborate with Underwriting Management to develop training material focused on motivating and engaging Underwriters. The Underwriting Development Consultant will be the first level for escalations.

Essential Functions:

• Consult directly with peers, managerstakeholders and subject matter experts to understand learning needs and objectives and with respect to underwriting support for overall company growth.
• Identifies opportunities for process improvements and serves as a subject matter expert in providing guidance in the development, evaluation, and implementation process improvements.
• Create innovative learning and development courses using a variety of instructional techniques to ensure a productive learning environment.
• Administer tests/ quizzes to measure trainees' comprehension of class material and certifies a trainee who has successfully completed their education.
• Keeps informed of industry specific changes and trends to incorporate or revise training content.
• Participate in business initiatives and other projects and duties as needed.

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

• Minimum 5 years of recent Residential Mortgage Underwriting experience in a training, or underwriting lead/management role.
• Proven facilitation experience in an on-site or virtual learning environment coupled with a strong customer-service approach.
• FHA DE and VA SAR delegations
• Experience with DU and LP AUS
• Strong attention to detail, critical thinking, and analysis skills, including an understanding of industry measurement standards for learning.
• Ability to influence others effectively and create support by using communication processes to ensure understanding and alignment
• Highly developed process, analytical and project management skills.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Suite, specifically Word and Excel.
