The Diabetic Educator assesses plans, implements, and evaluates educational needs of the patient diagnosed with diabetes, both in the inpatient and outpatient settings. This is done through patient assessment, educational classes (both 1:1 and group), and follow-up (evaluation). He/she is also involved in education for clients in outside organizations/industries and with Mercy staff.

Education:

Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Ohio. BSN preferred.

Experience:

Minimum of 5 year's experience in acute care nursing and/or diabetes specialty. Knowledge of adult learning principles. Maintains current BLS. Communication skills necessary to effectively present educational material. Organizational skills needed to design and plan for various learning opportunities.

Hours

Hours per pay period: 0

Hours: 8:00am to 4:00pm

Flexible hours based on patient's needs and schedules.

Days, afternoons, evenings and occasional Saturdays.
