The North Royalton Family YMCA is looking for a Assistant Coach, Swim Team. Under the supervision of the Aquatics Director, the Assistant Swim Team Coach will assist the Head Coach with leading age-appropriate activities for groups of swimmers at practice. Promote and incorporate the YMCA's core values and mission into all aspects of the job and community. Some evenings and weekends required. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: * Fulfill Y's mission to put Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind, and body for all. * Attend all practices and swim meets. * Give swimmers knowledge to understand and master strokes allowing for movement up through the swim team groups, and provide corrective feedback that will enhance swimmers' techniques. * Build effective, authentic relationships with students and parents. * Ensure the safety of swimmers at the practice by following proper precautions and regulations. * Lead practices of the group(s) with care and excitement. * Encourage the involvement of all participants. * Perform any additional tasks assigned by supervisors. * Assist with the recruiting, development and maintaining volunteers and parent groups/committees. * Organize equipment Complete forms * Daily housekeeping Lead warm ups * Maintain records QUALIFICATIONS: * Must be at least 16 years of age. * Excellent verbal and written communication skills. * Excellent human relations skills. * American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer preferred. * Prior coaching experience preferred. * Must be able to demonstrate correct swim techniques and strokes. * Visual abilities including close, distance, color, peripheral and depth perception and ability to adjust and focus. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. * Lead, demonstrate and/or participate in water activities for a sustained period of time. * This work requires the following physical activities: climbing, bending, kneeling, twisting, reaching, sitting, standing, walking, lifting, grasping, repetitive motions, talking, hearing, visual acuity and swimming. * Occasionally lift up to 50 lbs. WORK ENVIRONMENT: * Maintain a clean and orderly work environment. * Exposure to cleaning and pool chemicals as well as hot or cold temperatures. * The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to noisy. * Work environment may be slippery and wet often * May be required to work outside and on occasion may encounter inclement weather. * Travel to and from competition may be required.
