Position Summary:

The Laboratory Operations Assistant is responsible for providing general support functions to the laboratory by sorting, receiving, registering, ordering and processing laboratory specimens for testing. The position is within a production environment, with an emphasis on quality, productivity and client satisfaction.

Essential Job Functions:

Follows standard work, utilizes all required computer systems, to register and order lab samples.

Ability to access sample information. Ensures proper filing (electronic or manual) of all paper work.

Follows all laboratory safety guidelines, including the use of two patient identifiers. Uses appropriate PPE and complies with all personnel safety policies and procedures.

Follows standard work to appropriately process all samples. References established policies and procedures to ensure specimen integrity is maintained.

Follows standard work to obtain and process specimens for transport, ensuring sample adequacy and proper storage requirements are maintained. Receives samples appropriately.

Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

Education: High School Diploma/GED

License/Certification: Phlebotomy certification, ASCP Phlebotomy Certification preferred
