Opportunity Overview
Johns Manville is currently seeking a Senior Human Resources Manager for our Engineered Products Plant in Waterville, OH. The HR Manager is a member of the plant management team, providing functional HR expertise and perspective to the Plant Manager and various department managers. In this capacity the HR Manager is a "dotted line" report to the Plant Manager but reports into the Director of Human Resources at Denver World Headquarters.

The nature of this role requires that you adjust work hours when needed, respond to high priority calls or requests after regular hours, and minimal travel as required. This is both a hands-on "walking the plant floor" as well as a strategic "helping set the plant's direction" role.
Your Day to Day:
- Initiate strategies to create a robust workforce plan that addresses current and future organizational needs, including workforce size and structure, crewing, etc.
- Lead labor relations activities including grievance and arbitrations, preparing for and leading contract negotiations.
- Facilitate annual HR processes including compensation planning, open enrollment, succession planning, affirmative action plan development and others as required
- Recruiting support both for salaried and high-volume hourly (production) recruiting
- Coach managers in understanding employee issues and concerns and underlying causes, promotes direct lines of communications between employees and management
- Conduct thorough investigations and develops solutions to complex employee issues and concerns
- Coach managers in understanding local labor and compliance issues, advises managers of legal issues
- Lead positive employee relations activities
- Demonstrated experience with talent management, including recruitment, succession planning, and employee development
- Using HR metrics to drive local HR interventions
- Deliver training and development solutions
What You Bring to the Team:
- Bachelor's degree
- 5 or more years of experience working in an HR Manager role or in a succession of assignments in various HR disciplines
- Extensive Labor relations experience with demonstrated experience in arbitration, grievances, and contract negotiations required
- Experience with talent management, including recruitment, succession planning, and employee development
- Ability to build relationships from the shop floor to the management team
- Experience working in a 24/7 continuous operations manufacturing environment
- Experience in conducting investigations related to employee issues and concerns
- Experience or exposure to change management methodology; experience as a "change agent".
- Experience coaching and counseling
- Strong project management and leadership skills
- Strong problem resolution and negotiation skills
- Communication skills (verbal, written and presentation/facilitation)
- Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
- Ability to work in a team environment as well as across the organization
- Ability to climb stairs, extensive walking, hot and cold
- Ability to work a flexible schedule or after hours and be on call as needed
- Ability to travel up to 10%
Preferred Qualifications:
- ADP Payroll experience
- Workday Human Capital Management Systems preferred or other HCM experience
- Certifications PHR or SPHR preferred
