Job Summary
R+L Carriers is expanding its Information Technology Department in the Wilmington, Ohio, Columbus, Ohio, and Ocala, Florida markets and has an immediate opening for a MicroStrategy Administrator. Successful candidates will work within the Information Technology Department performing Administration of the Business Intelligence environments using the MicroStrategy Platform. The candidate will be a member of the MicroStrategy Administration team which works with all of the environments necessary to develop, test, and execute the Enterprise BI Product Team's existing, and new initiatives.
High level description of position responsibilities:
- Deployment Administration - create and deploy packages to staging and production environments using Object Manager. Maintain deployment process documentation. Assist developers with troubleshooting deployment package failures as needed.
- Security Administration - manage user security requests to set-up, modify, troubleshoot user access as needed by utilizing User Manager and other tools.
- License Administration - run license audits of all MicroStrategy environments by using License Manager.
- Cache and Cube Administration - using Configuration Managers to create and modify subscriptions, events, and schedules as needed to refresh Intelligent Cubes and refresh and/or purge caches as needed.
- MSTR Upgrade Management - using Integrity Manager to test and verify MicroStrategy upgrades while also testing and verifying data warehouse refreshes.
- Server Administration - assist with troubleshooting and resolving Query Engine and other system failures or issues in all environments as needed, using the Web Administration page as well as the DSSErrors log.
- Platform Analytics - use Platform Analytics and Enterprise Manager to analyze usage and performance of the overall system.
- Client-Side Tools Support - assist developers with MicroStrategy client-side tool installation and configuration.
- On-going Training - Complete MicroStrategy training courses online or in-person as needed to stay up-to-date with the latest features and improvements to MicroStrategy products.
Qualifications
· 2-3 years MicroStrategy experience in a development and/or administration role.
· Demonstrated experience designing, developing, and/or administration of Enterprise solutions using MicroStrategy 10.x and greater.
· Experience using MicroStrategy tools like Developer, Architect, Workstation, Object Manager, Command Manager, System Manager, Integrity Manager, Enterprise Manager, Platform Analytics, User Manager, Configuration Manager, and/or License Manager.
· Experience working in data warehousing environment.
· Able to write & understand complex SQL statements. SQL Server preferred.
· Good technical writing and documentation skills.
· Able to effectively transfer expertise to other team members.
· Collaborative, with a focus on team success.
· Attention to detail and a data stewardship attitude
· Self-motivated and able to resolve problems with general direction
· Strong written and verbal communication skills.
· Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Information Technology. Will consider equivalent combination of education and experience.
