Job description

Core Responsibilities:

* Plan, schedule and conduct material testing and activities in lab to support plant.
* Develop sampling protocols and collect samples at collection points in process.
* Assist in the development and optimization of processing conditions for new and modified formulations.
* Write short technical reports relating to research, development, and testing of materials and products.
* Collect and report data to the appropriate personnel and enter data into Quality data systems.
* Act as a point of contact and provide manufacturing support to meet quality requirements.
* Audit process set points and conditions to ensure conformance.
* Perform raw material supplier assessments and grading.
* Contribute towards continuous improvement for achieving defined operational performance metrics (SDQC)while operating within designated procedures.
* Ensure security of lab and maintain supplies to complete testing.
* Operate lab equipment and ensure proper calibration is maintained.
* Operate in a manner that provides value to the team.
* Perform additional duties as needed and/or assigned by management.

Qualifications:

* Associate Degree (two-year college or technical school) or Work Equivalent, Field of Study: Polymer Science, Materials, Plastics, Chemical Engineering or Engineering Technology required
* Experience/knowledge of instrumental analysis of polymers, a plus
* Advanced education and/or related certification(s), a plus
* Demonstrated ability to adhere to company values
* Three to five years in a similar position; Thorough knowledge of general lab testing and measuring equipment (scales, density, beakers, etc.)
* Proven knowledge of and experience with extrusion or similar process and demonstrated understanding of process works
* Excellent problem-solving abilities and mathematical aptitude
* Success in planning, executing and managing material testing
* Precise and articulate written and oral communication; ability to speak clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations and demonstrate individual and group presentation skills
