Job description
Cleveland-Cliffs Steel has an immediate need for an experienced Human Resources (HR) and Labor Relations (LR) Supervisor at our Zanesville, OH production facility. The HR/LR Supervisor will report to the HR/LR Department Manager in Butler, PA. The qualified candidate will be responsible for assisting operations, maintenance and service departments in meeting important business goals by using HR and LR expertise to eliminate barriers and solve problems. This includes but is not limited to interpreting, administering and implementing the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), providing support to departments in the areas of Employee Performance Management, Work Force Effectiveness and Labor Cost, Staffing and Manpower Scheduling, Employee Conduct and Safety.
Primary Responsibilities :
- Provide support and direction regarding interpretation and administration of the CBA.
- Support the negotiating process for the CBA by preparing and gathering information and by participating at the table as needed.
- Assure efficient application of the CBA as it applies to such areas as scheduling and utilization of bargaining unit employees, overtime, seniority applications, discipline, staffing, contracting out etc.
- Assist Management in addressing employee problems through training re-instruction and discipline of employees including discharge in order to assure optimum employee performance.
- Responsible for managing the grievances and related procedures for the facility.
- Monitor resources, staffing and administration.
- Administer policies and procedures in compliance with corporate programs.
- Responsible for compensation, training, recruiting, and employee relations activity.
- Encourage people to actively participate in community affairs.
- Support corporate initiatives.
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications :
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Labor Relations or related field
- Ability to prioritize and work in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment
- Team player with ability to effectively deal with a wide variety of people
- Strong computer proficiency including MS Office Suite
- Ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- PHR/SPHR or SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP certification
- ATS and/or HRIS experience
