Talent Acquisition Specialist

The talent acquisition specialist will perform a variety of skilled administrative and operational tasks related to full cycle recruiting. Over time and with development, they will partner with leaders across campus to support the recruitment and hiring of a diverse pool of qualified and capable talent ready to serve our community and students.

Fosters a culture of high collaboration and feedback through using UCO Talent Management best practices in educating, equipping and empowering hiring managers in their efforts to find the next great addition to their team. Specialist will offer recommendations that will enhance the quality of the full-cycle recruitment and/or hiring experience for all applicants. Displays excellence, integrity, reliability and innovation throughout all professional interactions. Is a relationship builder, partnering with key stakeholders and our community at large to retain UCO's reputation as an employer-of-choice.

Hybrid remote work is available, after a 90 day onboarding. Hybrid work and flex options are contingent upon strong performance, attendance and conduct.

Department Specific Essential Job Functions:

Oversees the following functions within the Talent Management department:

  • Oversees and executes relevant sections of the posting through offer process
  • Promotes and advertises the institution to attract a diverse pool of candidates through a variety of projects, campaigns and mediums
  • With time, assists leaders in their faculty and staff recruitment efforts through education and collaboration rooted in relevant and meaningful best practices
  • In partnership with others throughout Talent Management and other HR areas, works on projects to improve on-boarding, retention, equity, inclusion and engagement across campus
  • Provides training and education regarding the maximization of our applicant tracking software, screening and hiring procedures
  • Monitors non-competitive placements to ensure overall consistency, partnering with UCO's Equal Opportunity team as necessary
  • Champions the referral program, development plans, stay interviews, and other institutional efforts that encourage growth, belonging, inclusion, and employee advocacy
  • Provides insightful reporting on all recruitment related efforts
  • Co-manages the student employee for talent acquisition with the talent operations specialist


College/Department Overview:

The Talent Acquisition Specialist role works inside of the Talent Management Department, which is part of the larger Human Resources department. Talent Management is eleven (11) distinct roles that work together to empower UCO employees to bring their best selves to work every day. This role will require someone who enjoys working as part of a team inside of a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

Experience Required:

Bachelor's degree in job related field plus 2+ years of relevant experience in the Human Resources field or 5+ years of equivalent related work experience that provides knowledge of and exposure to fundamental theories, principles, and concepts. Requires the application of expertise in a chosen field to achieve results. Applicants are encouraged to provide a cover letter specific to their interest in this role.

Experience Preferred:

Strong grammar, communication and presentation skills are necessary but can be developed for candidates with strong foundation in at least one competency. Knowledge of Banner, full cycle recruitment, Paycom systems and/or HR processes are not necessary but will be developed. Experience with InDesign, Canva, and/or Illustrator is a plus. There is a preference for current UCO students, faculty or staff who meet required qualifications.

Speaking/Writing - Ability to effectively express ideas, instructions and concepts; Ability to speak and write effectively and clearly. Excellent interpersonal relationship and customer service skills and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with staff/faculty, community leaders, and other stakeholders.

Judgment and Decision Making - Ability to make independent, complex decisions while simultaneously exercising personal initiative and good judgment. Practices critical thinking. Balances logic with compassion through the lenses of consistency and sustainability. Ability to understand and reliably advise on relevant university policy and procedure.

Social Perceptiveness - Demonstrates good human relation skills to establish and foster good relationships throughout entire university community. Must consistently display servant leadership. Practices active listening.

Fast Paced Environment - Ability to keep a positive attitude during stressful situations and keep up with multiple projects. Willingness to work overtime as required. Proficient use of personal computer and ability to quickly learn and utilize the university software program and systems in the performance of regular duties.

Integrity - Job requires a high level of respect, ethical decision making, confidentiality and honesty. This position includes the management of a University credit card and access to our Talent Management budget. Excellence in the stewarding of these university funds is non-negotiable.
