Job description

SUMMARY: To provide operational support laboratory services for all aspects of the renewable diesel refinery, leadership and training of laboratory technicians, provide written reports, certificates of analysis, instrument preventative maintenance and calibration, procedure writing, document control, and research support as directed.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Maintain a safe, clean work environment by observing all local, state and federal regulations regarding health, safety and the environment. This includes all established plant and lab safety practices to ensure good housekeeping/hygiene practices are maintained.
* Be able to perform all duties and responsibilities of Laboratory Technicians.
* Work collaboratively to develop and maintain a Quality Management System.
* Install, calibrate, commission, and maintain sensitive laboratory instrumentation.
* Develop standard operating procedure based on industry standards; ASTM, ISO, EN & AOCS.
* Strong familiarity with lab operations, chemical techniques, hazardous waste program, sample handling protocols, and the scientific method.

REQUIREMENTS:

* Bachelor's degree in science discipline required. Chemistry or biochemistry degree preferred.
* Experience in biodiesel refining and/or bio-fuels industry preferred.
* Basic technical and mechanical experience preferred.
* Strong communication skills via conference calls, emails and Microsoft Teams preferred.
* Candidate must be available and flexible to work overtime and to cover sickness and vacations of other team members. Occasional changes in schedule will be required as special circumstances arise.
* Must be able to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds, climb ladders or platforms and able to wear all safety and production related equipment.
