POSITION SUMMARY: As a non- supervisory position reporting to the director of human resources the HR Specialist (HRS) will assist in a variety of ways to improve on an already winning strategy. The HRS will research, develop, and implement effective recruiting training strategies to attract and assist in retaining a diverse pool of qualified and capable talent for all business lines of the organization. Other duties would include HRIS maintenance, payroll processing, assisting with OSHA compliance and providing sound judgement and partnership to the other lines of business within DEVON.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO: · Develops, facilitates, and implements all phases of the recruitment process. · Collaborates with stakeholders to draft detailed and accurate job descriptions and hiring criteria· Identifies and implements effective recruiting and training methods and strategies· Has full scope responsibility for job posting and advertisement processes· Screens applications and selects qualified candidates· Acts as the talent gatekeeper and conducts "first pass" interviews· Assists with the interview process, scheduling, attending, interviews with stakeholders· Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and company policies· Attends and participates in college job fairs and recruiting sessions · Assesses need for technical or soft skills training in the organization· Develops training courses and materials to be used in workshop, group, and one-on-one training sessions
· Uses current systems to load and prepare training and appropriate testing options· Maintains accurate records

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: · Bachelor's degree in human resources or related field, or equivalent work experience, required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to patiently explain technical material to less technically proficient users
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with good negotiation tactics
  • Ability to create and implement sourcing strategies for recruitment for a variety of roles
  • Proactive and independent with the ability to take initiative
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
  • Some familiarity with laws, regulations, and best practices applicable to hiring and recruitment is helpful
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of the corporate team
  • Track reported issues with payroll system and work with vendor to have corrected
  • Reconcile payroll records with approved timecards
  • Train managers and staff on correct use of HRIS system
  • Proficient with computers and Microsoft Office Applications
  • Superior attention to detail

  • Expert with various HRIS applications
