Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Staff Engineer - Materials and Process to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position can be located in either Oklahoma City, OK or Palmdale, CA and will be supporting the Palmdale Aircraft Integration Center of Excellence (PAICoE) organization.
The selected candidate will be responsible for analyzing, researching, and developing materials and their related application processes for use in engineering design of and/or application in structures, systems and subsystems.
The candidate will apply principles of chemistry, physics, and material science to investigate material issues and provide solutions.
The candidate will work in a team environment with other engineering organization performing detailed technical reviews of drawings, specifications and manufacturing plans.
The position will require some travel to either Oklahoma City, OK or Palmdale, CA depending on the chosen applicant's primary location.
Basic Qualifications:
This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance. Special Program Access is also required. (The clearance and/or Special Program Access must be obtained within a reasonable of time as determined by the company to meet its business needs.)
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Material Science or other STEM degree with 14 years of related experience; OR a Master's in Engineering, Chemistry, Material Science or other STEM degree with 12 years of related experience; OR a PhD in a STEM field with 9 years of related experience.
Familiar with composite pre-pregs, honeycombs, and adhesive materials; Fabrication, assembly, and repair processes for aircraft composite structures, familiar with metallic materials and processes
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with working on military aircraft
Experience preparing and presenting oral and written reports
Salary Range: 115704 - 212124
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results.
