What We Are Looking For:

The MEI Group is urgently looking to hire a full-time Project Estimator to help lead our efforts in developing new business opportunities and successfully delivering projects. Required and preferred qualifications include:

  • 5+ years of progressive experience in estimating and management of heavy/civil construction projects including excavation, grading, underground utilities, road/highway construction, and structures.
  • Extensive experience bidding and/or managing projects $10M plus preferred.
  • Washington and/or Oregon project experience preferred.
  • Diverse project resume including private, municipal, federal and state DOT projects and projects completed as both prime and subcontractor.
  • Excellent computer proficiency including MS Office programs (Word, Excel, Project, Etc); HCSS HeavyBid; AGTEK; AutoCAD. Thorough knowledge of construction field operations, financial management, and general business management.
  • Proven organizational, decision-making, communication, and supervisory skills.
  • BA/BS Construction Management, Civil Engineering or related field or equivalent combinations of technical training and/or related experience preferred.

What You Will Be Responsible For:

Estimating Duties Include but are Not Limited to the Following:

  • Responsible for maintaining a working knowledge of industry standards and practices.
  • Responsible for maintaining an adequate workflow and for making sure the department acquires new work as necessary.
  • Reviews the Daily Journal of Commerce and the Oregon Contractor frequently in order to keep abreast of new projects.
  • Follows up on all job leads including the contacting of existing and new clients, and the determination of which jobs will be bid.
  • Attends and manages (when necessary) monthly Project Manager Meetings.
  • Researches and gathers material/subcontractor/supplier pricing.
  • Preparation of actual bid document including visiting the site, compiling the estimate, preparing the proposal, and submitting the bid.
  • Reviewing plan take-off with assistant before and after completion.
  • Post bid follow up including contacting clients for bid results and review of bid results.
