Our HR team functions centrally to support our companies while specializing, based upon company, for certain necessary HR functions. This position will work with diverse businesses while having the benefit of being a part of a team with centralized resources. This role has flexibility for a remote or hybrid work environment or it can be based in or around one of our local offices.
The ideal candidate will have experience in compliance, leave and absence management, and policy creation. Candidates must be comfortable presenting on various HR topics, the ability to build quick rapport with employees, have excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) and have strong organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail.
Responsibilities
- Prepare offers, terms of employment and assist in onboarding and training new employees.
- Prepare new hire paperwork and facilitate smooth new hire onboarding process.
- Prepare employee separation notices and related documents.
- Prepare all governmental regulatory mandates and ensure filings are performed as required.
- Oversee filing/reporting such as the EEO1/Vets 100, as well as other special and ad hoc reports as requested.
- Assist with regulatory research, employee labor laws and implementation of new laws.
- Recommend business process improvements having an HRIS component.
- Administer, respond and follow through on Workers' Compensation claims and program functions.
- Work directly with employees and managers to coordinate all aspects of employee leave of absence and other benefit related issues/needs.
- Promote HR programs to create and foster a positive employee experience.
- Perform other related duties as required and assigned.
Experience, Knowledge and Skill Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or relevant years of experience; PHR and/or SHRM-CP certification preferred.
- At least 3+ years of human resources experience. Work experience should include knowledge of human resources, benefits administration, leave of absence management and compliance or other related experience.
- Experience with Paylocity a plus.
- Must have a high level of interpersonal skills and integrity to handle sensitive and confidential situations.
- Understanding of Human Resources processes and terminology.
- Strong written and verbal communications skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to edit and proofread.
- Possess a curious and creative outlook with a problem-solving attitude.
- Excellent time management, organizational, and follow-through skills.
- Has shown ability to respond quickly and accurately to requests for data, ability to provide excellent customer service a must.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
- Working knowledge of Oregon, California and federal employment laws and regulations (FMLA, ADAA, EEO) and the ability to appropriately spot employment risk issues.
