We are looking for a purchasing agent to directly oversee all purchasing functions, including order processing, tracking, and logistics. This position works closely with the Senior Purchasing Agent and reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer. The purchasing agent collaborates with all members of the team to ensure department needs are met.
Position Responsibilities:
- Routinely monitor inventory levels to address changes in demand/lead time - ensuring stock levels adequately meet demand requirements.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement, develops recommendations, and provides insight for management.
- Maintain vendor/product information, vendor contacts, descriptions, MOQ's, purchase price, and delivery lead times.
- Develops analysis tools to optimize inventory levels, forecast future inventory requirements and provide financial analysis/ROI on proposed inventory investment opportunities.
- Manages urgent purchase orders and effectively communicates with internal and external stakeholders to ensure product delivery meets customer requirements.
- Helps resolve issues concerning transportation, logistics systems, imports/exports.
- Research/resolve inventory discrepancies and invoicing issues.
- Collaborate with the Product Manager, procuring new product samples and new product inventory.
- Communicate with overseas vendors, which may occasionally require flexible evening hours.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain or relevant field preferred
- 2 to 4 years of experience in procurement (imports, raw materials & finished goods)
- Intermediate experience with Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUP's, sumifs, pivot tables, etc.) highly desired
- Strong communication skills, written and verbal (experience with overseas vendor relations a plus)
- Experience with customs regulations and harmonized codes
- Ability to multi‐task and re‐align priorities throughout the day
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
