Job description

JOB PURPOSE:
Responsible for increasing product sales of metrology products to industry and/or manufacturing
accounts within assigned territory.

Western Region (California, Washington or Oregon)

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

  • Generate new business, build strong relationships and ensure growth of existing accounts.
  • Responsible for supporting direct and indirect sales for metrology solutions within assigned
territory having oversight for region and/or direct reports within that region.
  • Develop annual sales plan and strategies for territory and targeted accounts.
  • Assess potential application of products and service to develop solutions.
  • Create and deliver effective customer presentations, mailings, and seminars to targeted
venues and customers in order to educate and attract them to technologies and
products.
  • Perform sales and marketing presentations, new product introductions and training to the
customers. Communicate customer feedback.
  • Execute a variety of sales development programs, as directed by management.
  • Work as part of a highly effective team by developing positive relationships with managers,
customers, related individuals and groups.
  • Report on significant changes or trends with customers, competitors and their respective area
sales.
  • Maintain communication on product quality, key sales events, and significant market trends to
management.
  • Continuously self-improve the technical skills in the operation, function, application, theory and
demonstration of all products and technologies within the assigned product families and how
they are used to the market place.
  • Perform as the highly competent technical specialist for products.
  • Have a good understanding of company operations.
  • Cooperate with co-workers to accomplish consistent and reliable field sales support activities.
  • Complete weekly, monthly, and annual reports in a timely manner as directed by management.
  • Attend national and/or local trade shows and exhibits as required and represent the company
at special events.
  • Attend national and regional meetings as required.
  • Identify new opportunities for sales growth of existing and future products.
  • Monitor and control budget for travel and expenditure expenses
  • Maintain a good working knowledge of competitors and competitive products.
  • Maintain CRM initiatives and policies.
  • Maintain opportunities, schedule, contact information and notes in the CRM system.
  • Maintain records of sales activities.
  • Complete pipeline documentation as directed by management.
  • Provide necessary sales / customer reports as required by management
  • Insure responsive actions to leads, customer requirements and quoting.
  • Develop indirect sales channels in territory.
  • Maintain an efficient and effective self-organized customer visit work schedule for growing
business sales.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide practical "hands-on" and direct customer contact.
  • Ability to travel, nationally or internationally, as required or needed - 80% travel
  • Globally, working with the various teams in multiple departments
  • Help develop and communicate innovative ideas and solutions to customer's
challenges.

QUALIFICATIONS

Essential
  • 5 years of experience in technical product sales or support field.
  • 5 years of experience with metrology / Industrial applications.
  • 5 years of experience with Industry and Manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrate productive management techniques
  • Strong organizational abilities.
  • Knowledge and experience of metrology, Laser Radar and Laser Scanner systems and
associated software.
  • Proven experience with customer relationships.
  • Practically competent (can use tools as well as a computer).
  • Proficient in English.
  • Ability to understand, analyze, and present metrology data.
  • Valid passport.
  • Settle differences of opinion in a polite/professional manner and resolve
conflicts effectively.

Desirable
  • BS in Science degree, or higher in a technical or scientific area of study
  • Computer programming experience beneficial
  • Knowledge and experience of CAD/simulation beneficial
  • Related equivalent experience in Metrology, X-ray, industrial scientific sales, optical systems,
microscopy or other applicable experience is a plus
