The Senior Government Relations Representativeis a senior member of the Government Relations team for KinderCare Education. Focused on KinderCare's four pillars profitable growth, educational excellence, health and safety, and people - Your success is determined by the relationships and trust, external and internal, that you build and maintain and the strategies you lead to enhance and grow KinderCare's business and reputation. You will do this with the highest level of engagement by understanding the needs and direction of government policy and how such policies and funding affect KinderCare's 1,500 plus centers that actively participate in such programs, as well as the children, families, and teachers who directly benefit from these programs. Job Summary: TheSenior Government Relations Representative will be responsible for executing KinderCare Education's (KCE) government relations initiatives and public policy strategies for the company's Champions brand and school-age programs. KCE's public policy and government relations initiatives related to school-age children include, but are not limited to, public investment in high-quality before and after school programming; summer enrichment opportunities; learning recovery; evidence-based practices for promoting student academic progress; and state and federal policies for funding for K-12 education. Job Responsibilities: Report to the Vice President of Government Relations who is responsible for executing KCE state and federal public policy strategy. Develop strategies designed to increase support for high-quality extended day and summer enrichment programs Monitor state and federal legislative and agency activities related to K-12 education Cultivate and strengthen KCE relationships with strategic policy allies at the state and federal level Prepare briefings to inform state and local education agency officials about federal policy and funding opportunities related to K-12 education including, but not limited to, those included in the American Recovery Plan Act (ARPA). Develop field advocacy capabilities Represent KCE at meetings with government officials through speaking on panels and giving presentations Represent KCE program and assessment data for internal and external audiences Prepare materials for policy activations, meetings, and corporate partners Qualifications Adaptability Requirements: Position requires a high degree of adaptability. TheSenior Government Relations Representative will be challenged with a variety of duties on a day-to-day basis that will require quick response on a short notice and with high-level internal and external audiences. How You will Do It: Foster strong relationships, collaboration, and trust with government, external partners, NSC business partners, and field leaders. Proactively strategize opportunities for growth and proactively problem solve and strategize solutions. Effectively lead with open, honest communication and through strong interpersonal and soft skills. Education and Experience: Must be able to travel to attend field-based government relations activities. Bachelor's degree required. Minimum of 5 + years' experience in state or federal policymaking and advocacy in K-12 education issues - experience in multistate advocacy a plus. Experience preparing information for and presenting to state and local education agencies. Knowledge of legislative, budget, and administrative processes is required. Must have excellent research, writing, and communication skills. Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment and to organize projects and stakeholder groups.
