Role Value Proposition:
The Assistant Counsel will provide legal support to Senior Counsel on a broad range of transactional and regulatory matters for Versant Health. This support will drive effectiveness and efficiency in the delivery of legal services to Versant Health, including the proper alignment of legal services with the right level of legal support.
Key Responsibilities:
The top 5 specific responsibilities that are core to the Assistance Counsel's success in the first 12-18 months:
- Research and advise Senior Counsel and the Versant Health Compliance Department on Medicare, Medicaid and State Insurance laws and regulations
- Manage and with Senior Counsel update contract templates and maintain repository
- Review, revise and negotiate non-disclosure agreements, business associate agreements, and client contract amendments
- Provide corporate governance support including preparation of board meeting minutes and unanimous written consents
Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:
Required:
- Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school and admitted to New York State (or other appropriate) bar
- 1-3 years' experience in a law firm or comparable experience and training; prefer
- Excellent oral and written communication skills; excellent interpersonal and organizational skills and ability to prioritize and handle multiple priorities
- Manage workflow/time management and effectively communicate with clients
- Excellent research, writing, and drafting skills
- Willingness to learn and pitch in
- Positive attitude
Preferred:
- Experience with national law firm
- Experience with health care and/or insurance laws
